Strider

Front taken from Snowcone's US version on the site. Had the '8 meg' and Seal of approval labels on the front which is not present on the E.U release, so i cobbled a low res scan i found onto the Snowcone front and blended out as many of the nasty bits as i could. Then put it all on the MD template and re-typed the multi-language text on the back. Think i got away with it. ;)

Strider (custom)

The Japanese front with all the text painted out. As i had done the E.U version, i thought a custom would be nice. They say variety is the spice of life... ;)

The overseas cover for Strider has to be one of my most hated MD covers... it has absolutely nothing to do with the game!! Coincidentally, the Japanese one is one of my absolute favourites. ;D

I like the custom PAL one but I think it could look better. With the original logo and stuff removed, the top of the cover looks very bare, while you can tell there's a lot being covered up by the template at the bottom. I think it would look a lot better if you just moved everything up an inch or so; Hiryu would be more in the center of the canvas, you'd see less of the empty blue sky, and you'd see more of the artwork at the bottom of the cover. All in all, great work.

Many thanks for some input and an excellent suggestion.Had about an inch left so i have slid Hiryu up a little and i agree it looks better.I also agree about the E.U/U.S Strider cover.Another 'classic' would be Shadow Dancer.I mean who came up with that idea for E.U/U.S ?

Streets of Rage 3 (E.U Custom 1)

Streets of Rage 3 (E.U Custom 2)

Dont think ive ever spent so long on a cover...Took the JP version front, built the Blue version from scratch. Typing in 7 languages with accents is allways fun. ;D

I have a lot of work this coming week that will take up a lot of time, and internet access is a little limited where im going. But i should have a lot more time after that. There are a lot more PAL covers i want to get through yet. Also, i got a new scanner today and four Coleco titles to scan with it but have'nt had time to unpack it yet !!!
And thanks for the kind words. ;D

Probotector (E.U)

First one out of a new scanner !! A real 'pad smasher' of a game this one ;). As a kid, i used to think using continues was cheating. This is the type of game to change that opinion.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
I found Super Probotector (aka Contra III) to be more difficult. The last level on very hard is a freaking nightmare. 3 Boss battles in a row and the last boss is just cheap. I had to play the game over and over until I managed to no to die before the last level, and once there, I used all my earned lives and credits and just barely made it. I was close to crying :D

A credit is due there then. As i get older,my patience for difficult games is waning. I had to stop playing Ninja Gaiden 2 for the sake of my health...and the hardware's health. ;)

yeah, i know what you mean with ninja gaiden. it goes from being not too bad, and then suddenly every single enemy can hit you once for about half your health. and in the last two levels, you re-fight every single boss again. i got to the final boss with barely any life, and no health potions at all. i had to beat him without getting hit at all. not an easy task, took me about two hours to beat him...and that was on the easiest difficulty. damn you itagaki...why do you punish us with these hard games?
