New Genesis/Mega Drive covers....

Good news then.The black MD UGC template is almost ready to go and im working on the same thing but for actual MD cases.And yup..i picked up FIFA 95 locally for 95p!! Now its going to donate its case to Desert Strike .So MD cases are pretty cheap.

just let me know when you have it finished and i'll put up on the "template" page.

Are you really sure MD cases are that easy to obtain....

Yes you can get cheap games to donate their cases BUT the almost always look like shit due to age showing it's signs.... UGCs on the other hand come factory new so I personally(although I'm all for keeping stuff in it's original case) think UGCs look way better.....

Besides if every game is made for UGC and MDCases this doubles the amount of covers which need to be posted.... Guess who's job this section is....

Anyway.... Everyone should do as he please....

It would be insane to redo all covers for both cases. The focus is still on the UGCs but it would be nice to have a template sized for a retail Genesis/Mega Drive case. Think of the people that have a complete collection, all games in their respective cases but they're missing two or three covers. These people (I am one of them ) would rather buy a shitty game to use the case instead of trying to get a hold of a handful of UGCs, or even recase them all in UGCs for uniformity's sake.

Everyone can use the template he likes but I thought the template for a retail Genesis case would be more used on a request basis while the standard for new Genesis covers would be the UGC template.

Once both templates are here it would be pretty easy to change a certain cover from one template to the other if requested.

I believe that posting the template here and then using it on a request basis is probably the best idea. The only problem i see is where to put the finished covers if they not hosted here. They could stay in the uploads section and deleted after time,or maybe a storage folder just for MD cases (like the raws folder).

We allready had 5 versions of this....but not the Japanese version! Actually was the cover from the Asian version. It was identicle to the JP version except it had a Star with 'Asian Version' written in it just above Tails' ear. I painted that out cos'although JP versions of covers are not that popular,takers for an Asian version would be almost non-existant. Got it because at that time, i had an unmodified MD and Asian versions of games were region free. Has a full JP style MD manual that is entirely in english too.

I think the Engine version is considered more "arcade perfect" than the MD version,but i haven't seen that one so i cant be sure exactle why.Same as Forgotten Worlds...MD had parallax and was 2 player but had 2 levels missing.PCE was single scroll,only one player,but had all the levels so was considered more Arcade like.Oh and yes, Atomic Robo-Kid is great fun (not to mention challenging!)

I never liked the original cover for this game, so while working on my Megadrive template I decided to make a custom cover as well...

Some of the text on the back looks pretty awful, but I didn't have very good source material. I hope it's decent enough for printing, if not I guess I could try to go back and clean it up a little (to be honest I didn't realise it was quite as bad as it is until just now). I know the spine is a little boring too, but it's actually not that different from what a lot MD game spines look like. Anyway, I hope someone likes it, if not I'm happy to just use it myself.
