Does anyone have the exact measurements of covers for Genesis cases (Not UGC)?

3189 x 2020 Is what I have found to be the most accurate in comparison to the original cover inserts.

3200 x 2044 Is what I have found to fill the most of the available area in the case.

I prefer to use 3189 x 2020. I like having a small buffer from the edge of the slip cover.

Here is a taste of what I've been working on. I was planning on doing a template where I just replaced the black grid background of the older Genesis covers and made them red stripes, but ended up doing some serious Photoshop work and making all of them into the normal red stripe template. I had a lot of patching in to do, mixing parts from covers of different regions, and my own filling in work, to remove any old Genesis logos or seals that were covering the art on the Black Grid covers.

“Width” to 3188 pixels and the “Height” to 2020 pixels is what I use for my Sega covers that I am putting in original Sega cases.

Since there's been a bunch of Japanese Mega Drive covers uploaded recently, here's my raw scan contribution.

Does anyone know the what size the spine for a original Genesis sized case is?  I'm working on a cover for a Genesis case but I'm not sure on the spine width.  My overall size is 3188 Width x 2020 Height.

EDIT: Came up with 288 px width for the spine. Making the front cover 1450 px and the back 1450 px.

Made a more standard looking cover for RBI Baseball '93
The original spine did not match up well with the way most Genesis games look, it stuck out like a sore thumb.

Hi everyone. My first cover and very faithful to the US retail cover. I noticed this one hasn't been uploaded yet and it's unlisted from the main upload page so hopefully posting it here will suffice.

Hi everyone. My first cover and very faithful to the US retail cover. I noticed this one hasn't been uploaded yet and it's unlisted from the main upload page so hopefully posting it here will suffice.

That looks great, especially for your first cover! It's always a good idea to upload your covers here in the forums before sending them to the main site. The rules are super strict to become official Cover Project covers, and there is no notification if your submission is rejected. By bringing them to the forums first, the community can help you fine tune any details and provide constructive feedback. With that said, there are a couple of things with your cover I think could be improved.

•The Playmates logos on the front, back, and spine as well as the Mutant Chronicles logo could be replaced with crisper images. I have a Playmates logo I made some time ago that I'd be happy to share, and I found a Mutant Chronicles logo online that I cleaned up a bit that should help as well. Both are linked below.

•To the left of the Sega Seal of Quality on the front cover there are some faint vertical lines crossing the red stripes. if I remember correctly this may be an issue with the template, but I may be mistaken.

•The "Licensed by Sega Enterprises" text on the bottom of the front cover is pretty blurry and should be replaced. I believe the template has a text box with that blurb that should line up pretty well over the existing text. If not, I'd be happy to lend a hand finding the right font and various character properties to make it fit.

•Lastly, The screenshots are pretty poor and look discolored, maybe sun-faded? This is a tough one, as recreating screenshots is both time-consuming and difficult. There's only a few folks here in the forums that have the skill to remake a screenshot from scratch. An easier solution would be to locate a better scan. Hopefully another member has a copy they can upload. Or maybe that's just how they were printed, I don't own a copy so can't say for certain. Either way, I'm not sure if the current screenshots would be a deal breaker or not if submitted to the main site, perhaps a Cover Admin could way in on this?

Please don't take all my constructive criticism the wrong way, as I said I think it looks great. Many of the covers (including some of mine) shared here in the forums don't look as good as this one, and it's doubly impressive since it's your first try. I just wanted to point out some possible improvements just in case you want to further perfect your cover and maybe even make it an official part of The Cover Project. Feel free to ignore my wall of text if you're happy with it as is. And if you need any pointers or advice on how to undertake any of my suggestions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help.

And of course, welcome to The Cover Project!
