printer color settings question - epson artisan 50

benevicious:

I did a cursory search for topics titles "color" and "settings" before posting this, didn't find much I could use.

Trying to figure out the best color settings for my printer, an epson artisan 50.

I know I won't get print shop quality, just trying to see if I can make my prints look a bit better without going through a lot of ink/paper doing trial an error.

Is what I am currently settled on. If I leave the gamma to default (2.2) everything is way too bright and colors are a bit overwhelming. The other presets i have are Epson Vivid (no gamma control) and Epson Standard (full control).

My question is, for people that use epsons, what color settings do you use?

I am using just standard bright legal size copy paper (office depot brand) for right now. Will probably order some hammermill but they don't carry legal size in store it seems. My first round of snes/nes prints were on 50lb presentation matte stuff from redriver, they look nice but it took ~5 pages to get the color settings decent and that stuff is expensive.

I'd say just use semi-gloss photopaper, tell your printer that you are using it, and just start printing.

I never fiddle with color adjustments, no need because I think covers on our site are correct color.

My results have been very good allways.

I use cheap Canon printer.
