Nobody denies that the Wii has been way more successful than either of its competitors. But really the reason Xbox has no Mario is because they have an entirely different group of consumers. What Mario is for Nintendo is Gears of War and Halo for Xbox360.

And as for the PS3 being overpriced and a disappointment, that's debateable. But no good games to play? That's ridiculous, sorry. Killzone and God Of War might not be for everyone but they are great games. And calling Uncharted no good is almost delusional :D I mean, come on, you don't honestly think those are crap games do you?

Aside from the techdemo with the bird and the very short glimpse of Zelda in HD (which when it comes out might look entirely different) all we saw as very Wii like. Maybe I'm just spoiled nowadays but a full price game for a new console shouldn't look like a downloadable XBL or PSN game for $5 - $15. I'm guessing drop the next bomb in a few months showing us actual Wii U graphic. The interview with Reggie over at Gametrailers.com at least specified some details. He was dodging many questions and didn't want to tell too much but at least he said that it will be able to have 1080p graphics, a proprietary optical medium, suppsedly in the range of a BluRay as far as storage capacity is concerned, an online service and it will be a competetive hardware with competetive pricing. So maybe they won't do anything too fncy with the hardware and will be able to sell it at the price the PS3 and Xbox360 are at right now.

Honestly, I think they are just teasing us :D They wait until after the holiday season when they sold enough copies of Zelda Skyward Sword, which will be one, maybe THE, last of their big titles for Wii and THEN they pick up the pace discussing the Wii U.

Hopefully not combined!

And Reggie doesn't really care about Nintendo, only making money.
If he would care about Nintendo and it's fa base he would have studied Nintendo before accepting his current job.
HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT VIRTUAL BOY!!!

Yeah but Wii was popular amongst non-gamers.
No real good games except Mario Galaxies and maybe Zelda and Metroid prime 3.
And even those were good DISPITE the gimmick controls.

Yeah, mariocaseman, it is FINANCIALLY the most successful console, probably in all of history, but they completely alienated the core gamer market that they thrived on up until the end of the N64. (I liked the Gamecube a lot, but most of the gamers I knew at the time said it was "uncool" and favored the blood and gore of the Xbox and fantastical RPGs of the PS2.) Wii was their first real movement outside of the core gamer market, probably because they realized that a lot of gamers thought the Gamecube was a child's toy, so they decided to stop listening to the violence-hungry core gamer group, and started targeting gamers' parents and grandparents and baby sisters. Since the Wii came out, I have never seen more regular people playing video games. But, they only thing people play is WiiSports because "The Bowling game is really fun". The Wii library is comprised of 80% GARBAGE, and that's because tons of cut-rate, low-life, third-party developers are trying to leech off of the success of the Wii by making crap like Carnival Games and Redneck Trailer Park, or whatever that game was called. Sure, we got Metroid Other M and Mario Galaxy, but that doesn't make up for the complete disaster that we call the Wii library.

In short, financial success does not equate to good games, nor goes it get you the respect of the gamers that supported your company from the beginning, like I have.

Hope they don't fuck up again with the tech demo sorry game like wirh Wii Twilight Princess.

Gamecube version proofed that the gimmick controls were unnessary glue ons.

Try 99%

Gamecube was OK, but they fucked up with Mario Sunshine with the gimmick waterhose controls.
KaiserWAVE:
Nah, 99% is pretty harsh. 80% sounds more like it. But you have to admit that the games which are good on Wii and were made specifically for the system (Mad World) or ported with sginificant enhancements (Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition) were truly great and sometimes unique.

I bought a Wii at launch and an Xbox360 about half a year later. Now I have 12 Wii games and 97 Xbox360 games.....  In the end it was all worth it and if the Wii U suffers the same fate it will still have been worth it for me buying it. But these figures alone should give you a hint what I'm getting at :)
