Lish, what program/server or whatever do you use to create such awesome looking 3D previews? I need to get in on that for my uploads.

This is a trial of creating a custom cover from my template.  This one is of Pole Position, which is an atari 8-bit XE/XL/800/400 game that originally came in an ugly plain grey box.  Now I've transformed it into an XE-GS case.  With the rarity of cases, it looks like I might have to resort to more of these custom covers.

Well,

the Atari XE Universal Game Case project of mine is officially dead.  I discovered that a great deal of XE carts are made in Hong Kong, which are too thick to fit in UGC's.  The ones made in Taiwan are the only ones that fit.  As all fit in the multi DVD packs, I will be using those for XE covers for now on.  Just as I am for NES games.  If there is demand in the future, I will post the Covers for the multi DVD packs, but for now, I think most wouldn't like me doing this here as this site really only supports CD cases, DVD cases (including slim), UGC's, and DS cases. >:(

This is a lot of case types, so another one could be confusing.

A sad sad day...

Oh well..Back to Intellivision..and then theres collecovsion, Atari 2600 and Atari 7800..all of which fit in the UGC's.  YAY  ;D (stupid smirking icon)

We will host them in DVD cases if that is the best case for the cart. No sense in not making them available to the public based on that. Feel free to keep uploading them and just make sure that one of the admins knows what type of case they are for. :)

There was a little update in another thread by lish and I think we can stay with the UGCs for atari xe carts...

This is what lish said:

OK,  I have'nt been doing too much lately...been busy with my MBA.  I have a marketing management exam on tuesday, but after that I'll get stuck into finishing off the 20 or so intellivision titles that are left (sebs and mine...unless more raws get uploaded).

Then I'll finish of the atari XE collection (I was going to give up but then I realised that not all atari XE carts are the shape of the Aussie ones.  The Euro ones fit in the UGC's...and the UGC sleeves almost fit perfectly in the wide DVD cases that do take the Aussie XE carts)

Yes, we are a pretty strange folk down under...We generally design our packaging either uniquely (eg AU style SNES) or we try to be more like our american brothers (eg. N64 and DS) and have almost identical packaging.  The Problem is though that because we use PAL (that superior format that allows 17% more resolution than the other one...I here arguments forming in Japan and the US already) its pretty easy and often fairly cheap for Euro imports to flood our shores.  Then we get stuck with two distinct cases, Euro and Australian (Eg. US style cases for AU DS games and thicker Euro cases imported and mixed in....or AU style N64 boxes (similar and often prettier than plain red USA boxes) mixed with black euro boxes).  Well the same seems to have happed for Atari XE carts (Although I most certainly could be wrong).  It appears that carts intended for the Euro market where all manufacturerd in a specific asian country to a cart that fits in the UGCs.  The ones that look like they where directed specifically at Australia have a thick plastic grip bar that makes them not fit.  Again, it could be a coincidence and the two cart types could be a problem the world over.

Noetheless, the UGC sleeves fit OK in the wide DVD packs (with a 3mm border of space all round but it looks OK).  So then a smart compromise is to continue to make cases in the UGC size.  Those picky about making them fit perfectly in wide DVD cases can simply upscale them using a simple tool like paint brush (I tried that too and it works even better) for no real loss of image quality (It probably effective makes 300dpi more like 290dpi).

I WILL POST A GUIDE ON HOW TO UPSCALE FROM UGC TO MULTI-DVD PACKS (using various freeware software such as gimpshop and Infranview).  HOPEFULLY SNOWCONE WILL ACCEPT IT INTO THE GUIDES SECTION.  That way, we can keep producing covers to the UGC and people can upscale to wide DVD cases if they choose to use those cases.
