The TSOP variant is much better - cheaper and less time-intensive :)

How is it going on your end Rx_79?

Skuttzor:

I use the TSOP method as well, it's super easy, i just use a dremel to remove the chip (w/o damaging the board) and then heat the pins up that are left in and push em out, then i all gotta do is solder the TSOP into place, screw it back together and play :D

In this version do you just program the flash chip and then solder it on the TSOP adapter and the two of them on the board? Or did I understand sth wrong? Read a bit about this stuff recently.

Also could I use this programmer:

destructiveme:

Yes. You solder the programmed flash chip onto the adapter and this package then onto  the PCB without any extra wiring, because the pins of the TSOP get aligned correctly to the mask rom pins.

Don't know about the programmer, sorry!

Hmmm.... The soldering job of the flash chip looks pretty difficult isn't it? SMD soldering on such small solder points. Yuck.... I'm just an amateur when it comes to SMD soldering so the smaller the more difficult for me.
