Well, maybe someone already knows this, but im showing you my last mod.

This is a Game Boy Color with a frontlight panel, stolen from a broken GBA SP with cracked screen (2,50 on ebay)
The mod is not so hard, and there are a lot of videos of ppl who succesfully did this.

The reason why I'm posting this is because most of people simply follow Bibinson's tutorial without any other modifications = putting the GBA SP light in vertical (because the SP lcd is longer than the colors' so it doesnt fit) and soldering 2 pins.
My job was cutting the frontlight panel, cutting the metal bar (where light comes from), and rotating the kit by 90 degrees. In other words: instead of putting it in a weird way, i adapted it to the smaller GBC screen.

Here is a video of a guy who did the mod in traditional way:

And this is mine

Maybe this could inspire someone who wants to do the mod with a clear case.

Enjoy or not  :P

Tutorial is on http://mikejmoffitt.com/

I'm currently searching for 4 original GBAs in black with After Burner installed (maybe with dimmer switch)..
GBA SP just doesn't suit my hands.

Wooooooow, I'm really tempted to do this! But, I do pretty much all my mobile gaming on my iPhone. Plus, I play all of my Gameboy games on my Super Gameboy/Gamecube Gameboy player.

Still, though. REALLY sweet mod.

Sweet work man :o

Im trying to do the Backlight to a pocket GB but i already broke 2 LCD

The first i removed the reflective and polarizer layer, it was hard to peel off..so i broke the ribbon  ;)

The second i removed carefully only the reflective, but then i had to clean the glue from the polarizer and that was insane..after A LOT (2 days of working) of alchool and diluent it became clear, but when i turned it on i found many dead lines pixel and i raged very bad, so i detroyed it lol.

Waiting for a new display..im pretty sure backlighting a DMG is easier :| Just need to find a good one at a good price  :D

Hey Irv, what did you use to color your frontlight jobs? They look sick!

I'd imagine different colored LEDs for the screens.

You cant rush the process. Take your time with either game boy. I think the process is equally delicate with both style gameboys.
With the color game boy you don't even have to go through the hassle of an afterburner kit. Some a couple 5mm leds and some resistors and you're good.

Hey Irv, what did you use to color your frontlight jobs? They look sick!

A simple kit from Nonfinite Electronics (google I think I mispelled it). Not expensive at all and they deliver superfast.

Out of curiosity, did you use any kitsch-bent kit?

He was always sold out :( but I did buy some buttons sets from him for my nes controllers. Top notch stuff.

Ummmm, yeah, seriously. I'd buy from ya. XD I checked out the Nonfinite Electronics guy, and he doesn't seem to do custom orders anymore, at least not at the moment.

Then again, with you being how swamped with work that you already are, I doubt you could fit Gameboy-modding into your schedule. :P

Oh my God, awesome!!! I mean, let me take a look at what you have available first, but all I really need is a backlight, colored would be excellent, too. I don't really need/want the sound mods.

Oh almost forgot SonicAdvDX here  ;D

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! ;D Just two more, and my entire cover collection will be over and done with!!  ;D

EDIT: Seriously, dude, I really appreciate it. I owe you a pint.

RE-EDIT: Also, you seem to have saved the two most popular games for last. :D Theme Park is one of the few games that I've heard of people actually enjoying, and Mutant Penguins is the most recognizable game for the Jag, aside from Tempest, of course. ;D
