as some of you know, i am currently working on a artical about this website and its community. im trying to get an idead of why many of you love making/viewing/ and printing custom covers rather than just tell the world that this site exists, im trying to inform people why we do what we do, and why its a worthwile hobby/pursuit. any input at all would be helpful, and i will give credit anywhere due |

thanks a ton here is part of the discussion that led to creating this thread: --- Quote from: Arseen on May 27, 2011, 07:25:26 AM ---I'm not yet really in to cover making, as I lack the skill. But I sloooowly start practizing. So far what covers I have done are minor fixes to exsisting covers. So far no-one has responded about the quality, but only hissy fitting on copying covers and claiming them as my own, altough I have always credited the original creator and told that I have only done alterations and fixes. ;D --- End quote --- --- Quote from: dejimus on May 27, 2011, 07:34:19 AM ---what got you into all this in general though, not just actually making them, i dont make many cover these days, just due to time, but i still spend alot of time on the site just looking all the beautiful work ( and printing anything that would make my game collection prettier) --- End quote --- --- Quote from: Arseen on May 27, 2011, 07:42:51 AM --- Oh. in general. I wanted nice way of storing my huge ever groving game collection. I think I was first just searching for boxes to store them, but accidentaly stumbled here, AND IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!! :D Since then I have done my best at providing raws, even by re-buying games for boxes and buyimng rarer games. --- End quote --- |

When I first started gaming I was always pretty obsessed with making sure all my PS1 games had complete cases. It was rewarding to sit down next to my shelf and be able to just look at all the art and manuals. I would draw covers for my games if they were missing them. Once I had access to the internet I could print out really low resolution covers, but it was often hard to print them to the right size, especially with jewel cases. One day I found a custom DVD cover for Metal Gear Solid on DeviantArt. I was so in love with the idea I printed the cover out immediately. A few quick Google searches later led me to a thread on CAG about PS1 DVD covers, and eventually that thread led me to this site, and I never turned back. tl;dr I've always been obsessed with casing my games. Finding this site was like magic to me. |

I like having my things on display. When I can see them, it makes me want to do things with them more. Play, read, etc. I once set up a display of styrofoam and cardboard just so that I could see all my games and have them displayed before I found out about this site. |
