My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Doom:
Wait, "My Little Pony"? Isn't that...
These aren't the ponies you're thinking of. Basically, the new show is awesome. The A.V. Club gave it a B+. (If you read the review, skip the paragraph starting "A good example of this is the recent episode..." - it contains spoilers for one of the best episodes.)
--- Quote from: The A.V. Club ---My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic has to overcome a great many things ... But the chief one is this: It’s about fucking cartoon ponies.
...
My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic isn’t just kids TV that won’t make parents want to kill themselves; it’s legitimately entertaining and lots of fun. The best word to describe it is probably “relentless,” in that it’s relentlessly cute, relentlessly happy, and relentlessly entertaining.

Here's the creator of the show:
--- Quote from: Lauren Faust ---I never expected to work on a show based on a toy line, but I accepted the project based on my sincere childhood love of the toy and Hasbro’s desire to create an entertaining show that is not just a long toy commercial. When I took the job, I braced myself for criticism, expecting many people–without even watching the show–to instantly label it girly, stupid, cheap, for babies or an evil corporate commercial. I encourage skeptics like this to watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic with an open mind. If I’m doing my job right, I think you’ll be surprised.

I didn't expect the show to be good; neither did any of my friends who now love the show.
Fall Weather Friends and Dragonshy are good places to start.
Arseen:
Oh crap that is so childish and girlish... must resist urge watch... can't.
AppleQueso:
Lauren Faust also worked on Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls, fyi. Knowing that it's no surprise the show is good (apparently, I haven't actually watched it myself...)
Surprised it took this show so long to pop up on here, seems like it's popped up everywhere else.
Oh and before anyone brings it up, I'm certain that the reason the show has become so memetic has to do with a combination of the novelty of lolponies and the fact that it's (apparently, again I haven't actually watched it) actually a quality show.
tiktektak:
Powerpuff Girls were really quite cool! ;D
This shows sounds very very akward but hey if it's good fun for children to watch why not. Adults wouldn't watch such a thing would they?
I mean come on there are serious shows out there for grown ups to watch. Like One Piece. ;)
AppleQueso:
There are tons of animation fans who are adults who watch this stuff. Some watch it with their kids, some seek it out on their own. Heck the only reason Adult Swim exists is because Cartoon Network noticed that a significant chunk of their demographics were actually adults.
Like C.S. Lewis said:
--- Quote ---Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.
