Have you 100% DKC, DKC2, DKC3, AND DK64 by any chance?  I actually have 103% for DKC which pisses me off, because if the % can go past 100, then how do you know if you got everything?

Nope none of those. Actually I just ever finished DKC 1 afair.

Did you 100% it without a strategy guide?  How long did that take?

I would never ever use a strategy guide! I always try as hard as I can. If I don't manage to do/achieve sth alone in a game I look it up on the net BUT never touch that game again. So I only look sth up to know what i didn't manage to do. I stick to this 98% of the time because I feel kinda "guilty" when using faqs but very seldom make exceptions if I find sth truly unfair and unlogical especially in point and click adventures.

To make things short, Yes 100% without any guide. The hardest thing was the last star (242st). I tried around 80 times until I finally did it.

Weird I know. ;D

What about the spiritual guide that helps you after you fail to get a star X amount of times?  Did you allow that to help you at all?

Maybe it wasn't as groundbreaking as the first but still a hell of a lot of fun to play! Had some of the hardest levels I ever played but I still managed to 100% it after some controller eating. ;D

Storyline is unnecessary if a game has perfect gameplay which sadly is the other way around nowadays much too often. Much bling bling but minimal play play.

Another perfect example for a game like SMG2 is Demon's Souls. Storyline 'meh' but gameplay astonishing!

This is why I always get nostalgic for the NES days. Just a little exposition (or sometimes none at all) then straight to the game. These days you almost have to wait a half a day to get through all the FMV story before you actually get to the game. It drives me insane sometimes.

I feel the same way!!!  I would like it to make sense though.  Short, but make sense!

Agreed, On first playthrough I like (or would like) to skip cutscenes. Then replay with hugher difficulty also watching them.
