Hi, i just got an snes. I gave my console away many years ago, although i still had most of the games. anyways, the console
i got is yellowish (as you must expect) and i was wondering if it was better to make the chemical procedure to take it out
or just color it with some nice paint.

i've seen some posts of TCPers mod other stuff (like "goldening" legend of zelda a link to the past). So, what do you think is the
best choice? color it or uncolor it? if you had tried to color it, what kind of paint did you use? how did you do the "tape masking" on the
"power" or "reset" texts?

Tried it. It works. Good if you know someone with one of those UV plant lamps.

But if you're goin to paint it, Krylon Fusion for plasics. Get a color coat and a gloss coat. No primer needed but do clean the surface. And if you have one available scratch up the exterior with a scuff/scratch pad.

this one is in really nice shape, except for the color, and even if i get a good looking one, it will get yellow by the time.

and how did it look? did it get the original grey color or did it just "whitened"? also, isn't the sunlight enough if you want UV light?

Sunlight should be enough, from what I'm reading, but the chance of you getting a good amount of sunshine isn't the same in Seattle, WA as it would be in Miami, FL. It's simply an alternative.

Yea sunlight is great, but I live in NYC and if you leave something sitting out in the sun you'd be lucky if its still there when you come back lol. If you can isolate it with a UV lamp you can get better results and faster ;). Did it on my DMG's. And on my snes.

If you read the link, it tells that certain old plastics turn yellow or brown because of sunlight.

But the coloring can be reversed with hydroperocside, certain washing powder and sunlight (or UV light.)
