I am trying to own both the original Game Boy and Game Boy Color versions of Wario Land 2.  How can I tell which one is which by looking at the cartridge?  I currently have a black cartridge that plays on my Super Game Boy for the Super NES.  However, on Ebay there are sellers with both black and grey cartridges that say they are color versions.  Does anyone own both?  I'm so confused!!

Black cart = GBC version
Gray cart = GB version

I have the black cart...  but if it is the color version, shouldn't my Super Game Boy reject it?  I thought super game boy played strictly original gb games only..?

No, Super Gameboys will reject "Gameboy Color only" games but you can still use games that are compatible with both. For example Pokemon Gold & Silver are Gameboy Color games but both of those can be played in regular gameboys & super gameboys.  :)

No prob, for future reference: if the cart is gray it will automatically be an original GB game since none of the GBC games were manufactured in gray carts.  Nintendo did that to avoid confusion.

Adding to that:
Clear carts and rumble carts are Game Boy Color only
Black carts play on both, but have enhanments on GBC.

An then there are the colored carts like Pokemon and Donkey Kong Land, which you can't tell by color.
