T2: Skynet Edition (3 versions of the same movie on the same disc)
Blade Runner
Akira
A Clockwork Orange
anything by Studio Ghibli
Star Trek TOS Series (They look phenomenal in HD)
I'd personally wait for a better release of the movies on BD, especially ones that have the "Directors Edition" of TMP.
The Thing (1982)
Logan's Run looks great on BD despite the age of the print. It took so long to get Logan's run on DVD, I figured it would take longer to get it on BD.
Amadeus
2001
Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 (The DVD used alot of edge enhancement which makes the movie look crummy unscaled).
Army of Darkness, but if you own an HD-DVD player, the BD and HD-DVD are nearly identical, and the HD-DVD version is cheaper. Pass on the first two if you already have them on DVD. The first one was shot on 8mm film, DVD was its peak, and they added a blueish tint to the film of Evil Dead 2...wait for new release on that one they look better than DVD, just not by much. There is a Japanese only release of EDII which is supposed to look better but I cant vouch for it.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete.
The Fly
Friday the 13th Uncut (1980). I like this release because 1. Its the version that was going to be rated X in 1980...which would pass for PG-13 or a light R in 2011 it seems. Also it does look better than previous releases on DVD, including this ones DVD sister release with the same cover art.
A Nightmare on Elm st (1984) defiantly a nice upgrade from the DVD box set from...back in the late 90's...that cost like $150..that I paid $15 for a couple years ago because I wanted the whole set before those 4 movie packs came out at wal mart.
Deliverance...the DVD was just a crummy release...this one rectifies it
The Shining..."See Deliverance"
These are ones that offer a substantial upgrade over their SD counterparts.
actually here is my BD-Collection...ask me about if its worth upgrading your DVD to BD..if I own it.
