scanner woes....

I have had an Epson V330 Photo for a couple of months - and it's been great.

We've had some power outages here last week, and now my scanner powers on, but the motors don't seem to burst into life, and windows says it cannot communicate with the scanner. Does anyone know if there is a seperate internal fuse for the motors that i can replace myself? Would rather do that than try sending back to Amazon, but don't want to open up and fiddle if i'm not positive i can fix.
