Okay, guys, I've asked this several times before, (albeit, coupled with other questions) but the conversation always falls off before this question is actually answered. So, I'm asking now, directly, with no side-questions to distract us.

Does anybody know where I can find a reproduction cartridge of Star Ocean?

Before you say it, NO, GAMEREPRODUCTIONS.COM DOES NOT MAKE THIS GAME ANYMORE. I am aware that they do custom orders, and I have already contacted him and he specifically said "Star Ocean is too much work for me." So don't even think about answering with that.  ;)

Or, if anyone on these forum already has a repro that they no longer want, I'd GLADLY take it off your hands! ;D

Offer him more money than he normally asks ... money usually does the trick  ;)

PM this guy, he might be able to do it.

THANK YOU. I PM'd him and got a really quick response, and he said he would do it for me for a little over $100, so I'm good with that, considering I'm about to spend $700+ on repros from GameReproductions.com. :-X

Haha, yeah, that $700 is going to get me roughly 16 repro games. Not just one. That would be insane. :o

I understood you.  Im just EXTREMELY cheap with buying stuff.... Gamefly is both a Godsend and a huge Curse to me. (most of the time I manage to get games between $10-$25)

It just seems weird to me to shell out that much for non legitimate copies/alterations of a game.  :-\

But to each his own, I suppose if thats what makes ya happy that should be all that really matters  :)

I have to say I'm in the same boat as Mick here.

Although I'm sometimes tempted by some repros for certain games I always think why the hell should pay hundreds of euros for hacked carts if I can play the fan translations nad stuff on an emulator for free too.

The more original feeling argument doesn't really count for me as a repro is a hacked cart too so nothing original.

If you're going to be investing that kind of money I'd just spend the money on the equipment to create repros yourself. It would probably be far cheaper too

Does anyone know what kind of life expectancy these repro carts have?

Seems like I remember reading somewhere that they won't last but around 7-8 years.

You know, I thought about that, but I can't seem to find any good tutorials online of how to make repros. Have you seen any?

I dont see why Star Ocean is so difficult to make a repro of. It seems all you would need is a FastRom enabled Cart with Battery Backup Saving...Wait, 48 mB game...damn. Thats like 5 eproms stacked.

Yeah, the only way to make it is by modifying an actual Star Ocean Super Famicom cartridge. I dunno how it's done, but apparently, it's extremely difficult.

Luckily, the guy AppleQueso referred me to was able to make a cartridge for me. I have since received it in the mail, and it works beautifully.  ;D
