Nintendo Scratch-off cards
(1/1)
violetsauce:
Here is a blast from the past, anyone here born in the 80's probably remember seeing these around. About a year ago, I came across a box of unopened cards. I remember running down to the local corner store in the early 90's and buying these next to the topps baseball cards. They are scratch-off style "game" cards and looking back on it, it was quite silly. Basically you had to tried to advance from one card to the next without loosing. Each card and its own instructions to play.

Each pack for $.25 came with three game cards and two stickers. On the back of each sticker had secret tips on some games. I find the artwork on the stickers pretty cool, old comic book style. These came out in 1989, some 22 years ago. The stickers are not sticky, and the scratch-offs are difficult to...well.. scratch off lol. i only opened one pack for ol' time sake and have kept the rest just in the box and on display. A interesting piece of Nintendo and gaming history.

So does anyone else remember these cards?

Pikmin Overlord:
I still have about 6 of those bad boys! There is also a video game/notalgia shop I shop at that has a bunch of these cards unscratched in a protective carrying case.
Mick Dundee:
I have a full set of those. (Maybe 2) My Father In-Law got a box of them for a couple bucks and gave them to me. They are all in a binder and the multiples are in a small cardboard box.

I want to use the Zelda ones... but don't want to destroy something collectible.
UncleBob:
You can usually find these pretty cheap on eBay.  There's a second series of these that are near impossible to get - and when they do show up, they're usually pretty expensive.  I think the common belief is that they were only sold in Canada.

I got a few packs a couple of years ago on eBay for a buck. Cool stuff and I've never seen the 2nd series.
