I realized about that and checked it on the Internet. I found that was in 1982 when Nintendo changed the name of Jumpman for Mario, so I'm not sure if the name when the G&W was released was Jumpman or Mario, but could be Mario.

I knew Mario only as Mario even on G&W games (got some of them as a little kid).

The cover looks pretty nice now. The only issue is that it is still on imageshack which alters dpi and stuff so I can'T really check it for quality issues.

Mediafire or box.net please.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
If I may make a suggestion. What about dropping the age rating from the cover. I think it really sticks out apart from the fact that (at least as far as I know) all G&W were intended for all audiences. There aren't any G&W's that would be rated T or even M these days right? It's your template and your effort that went into making it but I think you should drop it. Just my oppinion.

Yeah kaiser is right. In those times there was no rating council in place at all. ;)

Actually I don't think it has screwed the image this time, the imge is sharp and even when looking super sized on 47" screen no blurriness can be seen.

But still one of these would be nice, so when you have done loads of these covers, it easy to skim thru them and pick the ones one needs.

I agree, but the space left should be filled with something otherwise the front looks empty.

Let me modify some things and I'll upload it to Mediafire.

@ KaiserWAVE
Of course you can make a suggestion. What I'm trying to do with this post is that everyone who is interested in it gives his/her oppinion about the possitive and negative points of the desing so we could create a great cover model for our G&Ws. About the ESRB rating, I didn't like very much how it looked with it but I finally added the ESRB rating because the original box of the last edition of the G&W: Ball had it.

Thanks for your oppinions

That was because the G&W-Ball was released just in 2010 and was a re-release of the first ever produced G&W also called Ball. ;D
So this special re-issue naturally ahd an ESRB rating but all others hadn't.

I'm realizing that if you think the front cover of the Multi Screen G&Ws looks a bit empty, maybe I should edit it and, instead of a vertical template, design a horizontal template, because the Silver and Gold Series will look really empty ;D What do you think?

Yes, I know that. Maybe I didn't explain myself very well, sorry.

Looks great, and very cool idea.  I've got a few of these myself still from my youth.

Any chance any body has a UGC "Game & Watch" for Donkey Kong II and/or Mario Bros.??  Or feel like making ones? :)

Thanks in advance.  This site is great! :)

Hi Sneak and welcome to the site.

I haven't got the Donkey Kong II cover made, sorry, but it is another of the covers I'd make. Just be a bit patient. For the moment, I'm looking (with the help of the people of this site) for a template to follow when making the covers.
As you can see, I have almost finished the Donkey Kong cover, and I have started making the covers for Oil Panic and Green House. After that, sheske was going to get the G&W: Ball game, so I thought of starting designing the Silver and Gold G&W models. I think it won't suppose a problem to create the Donkey Kong II cover while creating the others, but I can't confirm it to you now.
The problem will be the Mario Bros. cover. In the site gameandwatch.ch tiktektak gave me the other day, are shown the dimensions of the games, and the horizontal Multi Screen G&Ws are a bit more thicker than the UGCs, so they won't fit in it and, for the moment, I'm not going to make them (maybe in the future, now I'll center in the ones that fit).

Thanks for the links. I'm glad you all like the idea and the cover :D

Thanks for the welcome.

I've recently been bitten by the 'retro gaming bug' (so to speak) again, so it's time to do some organizing, as all my games are loose in old grocery bags.

I recently discovered this site, and I had no idea so many people had custom made covers for all these old games.  It's a great idea!  Now I just have to order some of those UGC cases.  I'm in Canada, so I'm not sure if there are any retailers here, but otherwise, I'm having to order from the US.

As for the links, no problem.  I figure if I'm going to have the nerve to ask people to custom make cases for games I want, the least I could do would be to do a bit of the legwork.

So you figure the Mario is a bit thicker, so it wouldn't fit into the cases?  I guess I never thought about it, or realized that the Mario G&W is thicker than the DKII one.

I modified the cover in order to try to fill the empty space. In the next link you´ll find a .zip file with the plain cover and the 3D preview of it, all in .tif format:

What do you think about it?

I updated the DK cover. I also finished the Oil Panic cover with the same design:

What do you think about them?

Regards :)

The vertical look was better, but otherwise nice quality

I agree, but the Silver and Gold models were going to have quite a lot of empty space in the front cover. Anyway, if we find how to fill that space, we could design both horizontal and vertical templates as for the Nintendo 64, for example, if you agree.

If you think they are ready for the site, what do I have to do to send them to the admins? Do I have to send an e-mail with the links to anyone in particular?

Thanks for everything :D
