Hi everybody!  :)

I'm new in the site (although I've been following you since December 2010) and, first of all, I want to say that I find awesome the work you are doing here. Congratulations for the good job!

Just one question:

I want to upload my own picture to my profile, but I can't. Is this because of the changes that are being made in the site or the picture has to verify some conditions?

And a suggestion:

I've seen that in the handheld section there is no section for the Nintendo's Game&Watch consoles. Why not adding it so this section would be more completed? Is it because it is difficult to find the boxes of these consoles to scan? I think it would great.

Sorry if I didn´t post this message in the right cathegory.

Thanks for everything  ;)
Regards,

Anubis

It's probably because nobody has provided box scans. No scans -> no cover -> no need for section!

Yeah, you're right. Maybe I asked a stupid question, but thanks for answering anyway.

Actually, wow. I like this idea a lot. Do most Game & Watch consoles fit into UGCs? Because I've been meaning to start collecting them, and that would be AWESOME if they fit.

If I remember thethickneses right, Donkey Kong sized ones yes, Lifeboat sized iffy.
But not sure, it's been awhile since playing them.

Silver Series = Yes
Gold Series = Yes
Wide Screen Series = Yes
Multiscreen Series = Yes, tight fit
New Wide Screen Series = Yes
Table Top Series = Certainly not ;)
Panorama Screen Series = Certainly not ;)
Super Color Series = Don't know exactly
Micro vs. System = Yes propably but it would be an extremly tight fit
Crystal Screen Series = Yes

So we could host those but boxes are really really hard to come by and complete copies of those games are extrmely pricey and for some games almost impossible to get!
2 + 3 = 23

Well, when I start buying these, I am very likely to put the money down to try and find these complete with their original boxes, and I would happily scan them here.

Even if we couldn't get retail boxes, SOMETHING would be better than NOTHING, right? I almost want to throw together a mock template or something. Call Shenske to the topic and make him do it, he's too good.  ;D

That's great. I'm happy you liked the suggestion.

It's a pitty that not all the Game&Watch fit in the UGCs. But if the idea goes ahead and people start uploading their console scans (I wish I hadn't throw my Zelda Game&Watch box away when I was young :'(), maybe we'd find a way to make them fit modifying the boxes and the covers a bit (Just as some people in the Forum did for their N64 Rumble Pak or GBC Pokémon Pinball, for example).

See ya!

Here is the picture of Panorama version

I don't know the outer measures but thickness wise double case might work. Just remembered seeing one once, and it's too big.
Ofcourse you can stack 8-10 cases together to fit one inside, but I think there is better ways to store these.  ;D

Here is image of Tabletop version.

Fitting that into stacked together UGC would be pointless, if not impossible.

So probably no go on both  ;)

LOL. Sorry. Those would be exceptions, of course.  ;D
The modifications I was talking about were refered to those that would be an extremely tight fit, like the Multiscreen Series.

Man that brings back memories. My grandparents have a green tabletop game of Popeye, use to play that for hours!

If we had some decent rez scans they could possibly be used as guidelines and recreated. We do have some very creative people here  :)

*points* Yeah, namely you!!  :D

Haha, well, if no further developments happen in this thread by the time I start buying myself some boxed G&W systems, then I'll make a thread and make sure the creative big-wigs hear about it. I'll probably start off with Club Nintendo's re-release of their "Ball" machine, simply because those boxes will definitely be the easiest/cheapest to find in mint condition for scans, plus I'm certain it will fit in a UGC. After that, I'm likely to hunt down the old Zelda, hopefully boxed. (After seeing what irvgotti did to the Flintstones box, I'm not too worried about condition. ;D )

After those two boxes, we may have some sort of inspiration to get started on a good template, or maybe it will just take Ball. The boxes I've seen were all relatively simple, minimalistic even, but again, I haven't seen many boxes, so I may be wrong. I think a real simple template would do just fine. Maybe for the spine, have that square Game & Watch logo at the top, the Nintendo logo at the bottom, and the title of the game in that old G&W font in the center. Something real simple like that. Unless you guys already have great, over-the-top ideas. :P

Well, as I told you before, I haven't got my Zelda G&W in its box, so taking into account the idea of this site and the original design of the first G&W boxes:

I decided to try to make my own box (and by the way start learning a bit of AutoCAD and Photoshop  ;D). For the moment, I have just done the Multiscreen G&W console in AutoCAD. Don't know if this would be useful for somebody.

If you really want to track down most or all G & W boxed complete I hope you got really really deep pockets. Some of these games are insanely rare complete. For example there is 1 complete(or mostly complete) Crystal Screen Super Mario Bros on Ebay at the moment. For a whopping 776 dollars... *ugh*
