The TurboGrafx 16 8-Disc Poly Case covers are based off of the two styles of jewel cases, the early orange theme and
the later color coded theme. The CDs are also based off of the color coded theme and the later green CDRom2 and
hot pink Super CDRom2 jewel cases.
They are also based off of the TG16 DVD Cases located here
http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=4007.0The 8dp case is a DVD like case that has closer proportions to a CD jewel case but is slightly larger.
There are many ways to fit turbo HuCards, CDs and the there Manuals in these.

Where to buy casesI recently purchased a 100 pack of the 6-disc cases from the first link below for around $50.00 shipped.
(6 disc are the same size as 8 only with one less CD sleeve inside)
You can buy 8dp cases from these online stores

Download Download Cover PackThe TurboGrafx 16 8dp Cover Pack Version 1.0 Contains:
35 Total Games
31 out of 94 US HuCards
4 out of 45 US CDs
2 Games have Alternative Covers
The cover pack is a torrent which you can
download here: TurboGrafx16_8dpCoverPack_1.0.torrentOnce you download the above torrent file open it with your favorite torrent program to begin the download of the pack.
I am testing an experimental method of releasing this project as a pack that I plan to update every so often with a new version.
I will be starting a changelog in the readme for future releases. Some of the benefits I am going for here are organization,
easy to download all covers at once, easy to dl specific covers only through the torrent program, updating covers will be
easier to keep track of encase of errors or upgrades as it will be noted in the changelog.

CuttingThe covers outer most black border is the cutting zone. It works as a buffer but you want to get close to the yellow border
without hitting it. Left over black border will match the black case. Thin to regular paper you don't have to worry to much
but thicker paper you want to get as close to the yellow as possible.
=============================================================================================
Printing/Paper The 8dp covers are basically 5.25 x 12.25 inches so if you have a standard size printer you will need to use legal paper which is 8.5 x 14
Another option is if you have a wide-format printer that can handle 13 x 19 inch paper. Then you can fit three on a sheet.
If you haven’t printed covers before having a glossy paper isn’t really necessary since the cases plastic overlay makes any print look glossy.
Still some prefer glossy paper, my printer seems to get richer colors on the semi gloss I used. Matte paper also looks very nice and most people
probably use this do to it being easier to find. Lastly I was able to get some cheap standard multi-purpose paper to look decent/ok when adjusting
the print settings a bit.
Once you have paper experiment with some test strips or sections of a cover to save ink. You are looking for a dark black and rich colors while
keeping an eye on brightness and details. I needed to adjust the brightness, contrast and saturation manually a bit to get good results. Place
the tests in the case to see how they look. Save your settings and you should be set.

Cover Creation Guide (This will be a bit messy for a while.. wip / rough draft)
First make sure you have the latest cover pack for reference.
Here is the template-
Template Download: http://www.ektophase.com/TG16/TurboGrafx16_8DPTemplate_Ektophase.zipFirst create a folder for your new cover and be sure to place your scans and in game screenshots in it along with the psd and related stuff. I may want you to send me the final psd for tweaking or whatever.. not sure yet. (you will still get full credit if I alter something)
You may also want to make the dvd version after the 8dp but make the 8dp first. you can read the instruction there as they may be helpful for this but may be similar to this one.
Tip use Ctrl ; (control and semicolon) to hide and show the guides
Front-Scanning
These use the instruction manual cover (not the box)
For the scans its nice if you have a decent scanner thats not too old, then the scans should be 600dpi with descreen checked (some scanners have a magazine mode or picture mode)
Everything else is unchecked (like text enhancement etc.)
place the manual a few inches in on each side (some scanners will crop a few mm if you don't) Also I usually preview scan then highlight just the cover area with a little extra room on each side. Then scan and save as a .tiff (they should be around 25 megs a piece)
-Some techniques that I would recommend are
1- put black or dark paper behind the front cover
(this helps text from the back of the cover and page 1 to not show through)
2-put a black t-shirt over the scanner window and the cover, keep the lid up and put something hard and flat on top of the cover area (I have a piece of Plexiglas around the size of a dvd case)
then i put a 2.5 pound weight on top of the plexiglass.
the black t-shirt will keep light from bleeding in around the spine and rest of the cover
the flat object and weight will compress the cover better than the lid
Once you have the scan we need to straighten it out.. go to Image Rotation- Arbitrary and use some guides to check for squareness keep in mind you can rotate .25degrees and lower even.
-Cropping- drag some guides out on all 4 sides then use the selection tool with snap on to select it copy and put in a new window then save as master scan or something.
-Touching the scan up- clone stamp tool, basically get rid of dust and specks as well as damage or errors from printing (Tip - Use Ctrl and + and - to zoom in and out quickly). Zoom in and really scan for specks and stuff to fix. If you like you can also get rid of any TMs,
be sure to save this as master scan clean or something
-Next we will resize it to 1520x1520 copy and paste it into the template then use the TG logo and nec logo to cover up old ones were it applies
Spinefor the orange spine contact me and I'll send you a title layer. I am working on converting my 3d program text into a font so I may have a font file in the future.
other spines are in Arial black usually use a width percent ranging from 70 to 90 look at the cover pack to and make something similar depending on characters in the name
Backfirst get a picture of the original box online somewhere put this in your folder
take some nice screen shots in an emulator see my dvd guide for more info ( save the original shots in your folder too)
(you will be resizing these twice)
these will be resized..top 2 large shots which I usually like to show a good representation of gameplay with is 300% nearest neighbor then 800x 600 bicubic
the small shot which I usually like to show an early boss is 200%nn 640 x 480 bicubic
The story paragraph you can resize if necessary but only slightly with the settings see the pack for reference.
dvd guide may have more helpful tips
Number of players see the pack and developers also see the pack for how they are stated
will clean this up a bit soon..
