Scanning Advice for Sega Saturn Games

Pages: (1/1)

pegboy:

Hi, I have these original US version Sega Saturn games and would like to scan them and post them for others:

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (manual, side, and back)
Madden NFL 98 (manual, side, and back)
Bases Loaded '96 Double Header (manual, side, and back)
Batman Forever (manual, side and back)

Since I am new here I am not sure how I would reference the different elements of the case.  These are in the large plastic case with the CD-ROM and when you open it the left side is the manual and the image on the manual is what you see when you look at it in the case.  If you take out the plastic that the CD-ROM sits in you get access to another inset that is the back and the spine of the case.

All the cover art here is done very nicely but if I scan these in it will be two scanned images for one game.  Should I try my best with Fireworks to create it like the rest on this site?  Or is there a place where I can put scanned cover art?

Here are my suggestions. First off, scan the inserts at a high resolution (something like 600dpi or better). The upload section is down right now, so you will have to find somewhere else to host the files (most people here use mediafire or box.net). As you can see, most of the Sega Saturn and Sega CD covers on the site have been  converted to go into DVD cases. As far as I know, those old style Sega cases are no longer manufactured by anyone.

Hopefully, if your scans are good someone will do the conversion and put the covers on the site. If you have Photoshop skills, you can take a crack at it yourself, but beware. The quality standards on this site are pretty high.

Good luck and thanks for contributing!
