Edited the first post in the thread to use it as our official UGC Game Gear cover thread rather than make a new one.

I've posted here a couple of times and actually contributed some raw Genesis scans some time ago, but I've only recently gotten back into my personal cover project, so I've become something of a lurker in recent months.  My question now, though, pertains to Game Gear covers for the UGCs.  I recall some time ago that templates were created for this, but I've searched the forums for recent discussions on this, but have come up empty.  I would tackle this issue myself, but my Photoshop skills are incredibly limited.  And I'm not really requesting anything (as I have zero high-res artwork to work with for my Game Gear games and I realize that they are hard to come by), but I would love nothing more than to be able to line all my Genesis, 32x, and Game Gear games together on the shame shelf.  So, I guess my question is this:  Is there any chance of such covers being made for the UGC?  Of course it's perfectly all right if the answer is no, but I've been hopeful that the topic may come up again in conversation and I'm merely bringing the issue up for confirmation one way or another.

Thanks!

Eesh, the chances of that are probably slim, bro. I mean, I get the look that you're trying to accomplish on a shelf, and I totally understand your desire, but it's really hard to change something that's as set as these templates. The usual formulas is:

if game = handheld; then case = DS.
if game = console; then case = UGC.

It keeps collections more consistent that way. You're just looking for a different kind of consistency. :-\

Being a fellow Game Gear fan, I sympathize with you, and would be more than happy to slap together a basic Game Gear UGC template. But, beyond that, I can't really provide you with any sort of art big enough to take up a whole UGC cover, and I only have covers that I made myself for all of the Sonic Game Gear games, because those are the only ones I own, pretty much. Even then, they're all DS case sized, and upscaling them to UGC would probably look awful. :(

You might be best off if I made a sort of template that just had the purple stripes covering it, (I'm assuming that's the game box style you're looking for.) with a centered frame in the middle that would have the cover of the game. (Picture our TurboGraphx covers to get an idea of when I'm thinking.) That way, it would be easy for you to take the covers already created on this site, and do a real simple copy-pasta job onto the UGC template without worrying about distorting the images with upscaling.

What do ya say?

If you wouldn't mind making a template, I would definitely be interested in just having a go at it, but I certainly wouldn't want to impose on you.  I just appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Did you try the templates page?  ::)

I found 3 complete Game Gear games last week so heres a few retail covers to get the ball rolling. I have a bunch of extra Genesis cases so Im gonna be casing my Game Gear games in those using the UGC template.

*Cover previews moved to first post*

Ill probably get around to making DS case versions of these covers at some point.
