...yet there is quite a bit of artwork to download on the site for them.  I'm guessing there are multiple types of UGC's or are most people modding them to fit standard US NES games?

most people mod their UGCs to make them fit but others use VHS or double wide DVD cases as well, then youd have to tweak the cover dimensions a bit. I personally mod mine with a nice sharp swiss army knife, cuts through nice and clean with little effort. You could also use a dremel tool but thats kinda messy.

thanks guys!  after lurking around I eventually found that thread, but it seems like a lot fo work for the 50+ NES games I wanted to bookshelf.  Oh well, I'm hoping someone created a alternate UGC for NES, Master System, and Atari consoles!  That'd be awesome!

To be honest, you're better off sticking with the UGCs - it's a site standard at this point. Then again, I'd rather clip off a few bits of plastic for 51 NES games rather than sit in Photoshop editing 51 covers to fit a non-UGC case.

But, that's just me.   ;)

  • Think off-center.
Happy clipping lol I still haven't gotten around to casing all of my NES games because of the clipping but the end result is worth it.

If you think 50+ games is alot, my NES collection is sitting at around 170 and theres members here who have way over that. You dont have to do them all in one shot. Clip 10 cases a day or so and voila, your done in a week! :) Sure you could look for an alternative but the end result just wont be the same...

I use some wire clippers to cut out the big pieces and then trim out the rest with toenail clippers. When I started it took about 20 minutes per case, but you get faster over time (now it's around 8-10 minutes). There are faster ways (like other users have mentioned), but I just make due with what I have (I also only had around 12 nes games when I started, but it's not too bad now to just do one or two cases when I get some new games).

Actually a US citizen, but the US playstation id's look like crap :(

I use pliers to rip out the plastic bits, and then use an old soldering iron to melt the rest so that it's smooth. Works well for me...
