What do you go for in your game collection, quality or quantity? Do you just get every game you can get your hands on or do you go out of your way for "special" games? I'm curious because I'm just now trying to rebuild and expand my collection and I'm not sure which way to go.....

Quality.  Who cares if you own 1000 crap games. Wouldn't you rather 100 great ones?

Really, I am just trying to rebuild my collection, and get most of the games I once had but traded away or sold for other games. But I also, I do not want to have every NES games that exists. I have a checklist on my phone of games that I do want to get for every console I have. Once i complete those lists, I will pretty much be happy.

In most cases, I go with quality over quantity, except for the SNES, which is my favorite system.

Originally, it was just to get all the "must-have" SNES games out there, which, for the most part, I've picked up over the years. Now I'm at the point where I'm trying to collect them all,...which unfortunately has meant buying entirely too many shitty sports games. Luckily a guy I know out at a local flea market lets me have any SNES sports games he picks up for 50 cents to a dollar, so that's really helped out. It just gives me something to shoot for with my collection, and it's really exciting being able to knock 3-4 games off my list every now and then.

I'm 100% for quality. I mean, don't get me wrong, I have over 200 games, but they're ALL games that I would enjoy playing at any given time. Why waste time getting bad games that you know you won't play?

That being said, if I already own a bad game, I'm likely to not sell it. When I bought my Atari Jaguar, it came with 12 games, 10 of which I'm assuming suck balls, though I have yet to try them all. But, they came with the deal, so I'm likely to stick with them. Unless I ever need to make a quick buck, I don't see myself going out of my way to re-sell games I don't play. It just adds to the collection's diversity.

Quality all the way. I don't sell my games at all, but I have a few gifts and pack ins I don't ever plan on touching. There are a lot of games I have yet to even play in my collection, but if I've bought it I've at least heard good things about it.

Definitely quality. But only things that I can see myself playing. That said, there are definitely some console essentials that I have no interest in getting. I don't have as many games as most people on here (300~), but I can see my collection maybe reaching 900+ years down the road. Which is... a lot of games I can see myself playing. Not a week goes by where I don't try to cut some more off of my wishlist, but it's getting kind of difficult now.

For me it's about quality and something I know I can always enjoy.  Sure there are some crap games we all own for the sake of nostalgia (I'm looking at you 3xtreme) but for the most part every game I own I could pop in and still enjoy it, I think I'm over 300 games now

bit of both - as i have bought so many lots of games when looking for 1 title, I have ended up with tons i will never play - can't bring myself to get rid of them yet though.  I do get rid of duplicates though.
