Update First look with NES cartridge in case http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_NESfront.jpg The picture linked above is a shot of the front side of the case with NES cartridge. I placed it reversed to better fit in the case. http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_NESback.jpg Picture of the back of the case. http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_NESspine.jpg Picture of the spine. http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_NEScomp.jpg A small comparison picture. I think once I get around to removing the clips/tabs for inserts/manuals in the case NES cartridges would fit perfect into the case. Tried shaking the case and the cartridge does not move, but I suspect those clips/tabs are actually holding it in space. At the top of the spine there is a small but noticeable gap. Overall, I am happy how the case works for NES cartridge. Also, sorry about the pictures, I have very limited options at the moment so I think I will till daylight until the next set of pictures (and possibly redoing the NES cartridge pictures). First look at the black case with SNES cartridge in case http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_BLK.jpg http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_BLKfront.jpg http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_BLKcomp01.jpg http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j425/dejeckt/Alternate%20Case/brc_BLKcomp02.jpg Definitely like black better, and need to find a better way to print covers (need to find a good way of slightly cropping/stretch the image for case). The case still has a slight gap on the top of the spine, but its much less noticeable with the black case. Original Post --- Quote ---Hey everyone, new to the forums, have always been interested in coverproject yet for some reason I've always been hesitant to using UGC. I've read once on this forum about a person using 27mm DVD cases to be alternatives to UGC so that got me thinking why not Blu Ray cases. Couple of problems arouse... 1. Case Color, it seems that most vendors only carry Blue color for anything thicker than 14mm. 2. Blu Ray logo, it seems regardless of where you try to buy your Blu Ray cases you still have to be stuck with that inferno logo. 3. Size, Even if I do find a thick blue ray case I was always concerned about the amount of space the actual disc holder takes. Solution (after searching quite a bit) Univenture Hi Def Case Outside Dimensions 5.375" x 6.75" x 0.8" Insert Dimensions 11" x 5.8" Places to purchase: http://www.univenture.com/shop/empty_multimedia_disc_case.php http://www.mediamegamall.com/univenture-empty-black-hidef-case-13367-p-18288.html At this point in time I can't really comment on either of vendor's reliability, but currently I have placed an order through univenture for 2 cases ($9.33 shipped). I would like to check the cases out before committing to purchasing 50 or so cases that could possibly end up in the garbage. Also, I have to mention that these cases roughly costs 2x more than UGC. I would like to hear inputs/ideas from The Cover Project community. You guys think I'm pretty much safe in fitting old game into these cases (nes, snes, genesis, etc)? What do you guys think compared to UGC? I will update this post in 4~7 days with real pics of the cases. If one of you can kindly upload an adjusted cover for this case I am more than happy to show how the case looks with the inserts. --- End quote --- |

interesting, I want to see how games might actually fit in there first though. |

--- Quote ---I'm not too worried about NES carts (unless the specs offered on site is way off), but I am concerned about SNES cart size. The thickness of an SNES cart is 0.8" and the case outside dimension is 0.8" so I don't think there would be adequate room for a SNES cart, but I hope I can squeeze it in there. --- End quote --- Measured the carts (W*H*T in millimeters. Divide with 25.4 to get inches) NES carts are 0.62 inches thick (134*119*16), so tight fit that too, especially with manual. SNES EU/AU/JAP carts are SNES US carts are 0.78 inches (138*86*20mm) --- Quote ---As for the manuals I haven't given thought about it, and it seems unlikely I could fit SNES/N64 manuals in there (nes I don't think there would be a problem). --- End quote --- For this I have another topic: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=4481.0 Small (IE normal) NES manuals no problem, but the bigger NES manuals are the same size as SNES/N64. Those fit nicely into DVD cases or folders like mty nes manuals. I have bought folder pages for those too, no pictures of those yet though. |

I've been looking for a storange solution for NES games for years now. UMCs are a little bigger than they need to be and you of course have to tear off the tabs. I own over 250 (and growing) NES games that currently sit on my shelf unprotected. Will these cases really fit NES games comfortably without any mods? What about NES games in their dustsleeves? If these really do work......I'm going to have to place a huge order. |
