So Dragon Quest VI just came out and I snagged my copy today. I had seen pictures of the new boxart online and I was hoping it was some kind of placeholder image. It wasn't. The game's predecessors, Dragon Quest IV and Dragon Quest V, followed a certain theme to their covers. The three games are a part of a trilogy so it makes sense that they all have a common style. Unfortunately, Dragon Quest VI's cover design was completely modified to match the more recent Dragon Quest IX. This frustrates me because the T is just a T and not a sword and the spine art is a stark contrast to the other two games'.

Is anyone else frustrated by this and can anyone give me some tips on creating a new cover design to match the other two? I hate it when this sort of thing happens with games.

...that is weird...looks like the Jap version is the same old style...wonder why they changed it

(on a side note, i think this is the most i have posted in a month or more. Hooray for things I am personally interested in and have opinions about!)

Well, they changed Dragon Quest VI's cover to match the style of IX. Sacrificing consistency in the trilogy for consistency between the latest releases doesn't really make sense to me.
