I hate that Sega got cheap and started using boxes later in the Genesis lifespan. The short of it is that I printed out the covers and put them in the clam shell Genesis cases and tossed the boxes in storage.

One problem.... Sonic & Knuckles. I thought I had everything perfect. That is until I closed the case. The top part is too big so the case won't stay closed. Here are some pics.

So, does anyone have any ideas? I've considered using a universal game case but m OCD want the cases to match. Then I wondered if there is a large spline Genesis case with a cartridge holder like this one or all they all sized to fit the Electronic Arts sized cartridges?

Thats funny, I actually have my Sonic & Knuckles in the exact same EA case and I cut out the same peices of plastic. Mine closes perfectly. Maybe you didnt cut out the plastic close enough to the case? I also tried putting in the manual from my roommates copy of Sonic & Knuckles and it still stayed closed. ???

Heres some pics of mine opened and closed:

Pay no attention to one of my past times in the background.  ;)

Yep, plastic is cut all the way down. If I pull the manual out it stays closed. That is really odd that yours does.....

I wonder what the difference could be besides a slightly larger spline?

Keep looking for EA cases I have a case for my game that is bit bigger than the other EA cases I have.  It does have the EA logo on it so it must have been from a game with a thick book ( star flight?) . I don't have the sonic & knuckles cart here in front of me but I am almost sure it will work ( if you can find one).
Hope this helps..!

It could be that the clips that hold it shut are a little worn out on your case so maybe it doesnt snap shut quite a tight.

I had thought about that, and it might be my only option. However, the EA carts were not as wide as the standard Genesis carts so the cart won't fit into the snaps on the sides no matter how I would cut it. So, I would have to do it side ways, but there would be no way to keep it from sliding up and down. I guess I could always glue some plastic in at the edges where the cart would sit. I know it will fit and I have some of those large spline EA cases sitting around that I can try if I can't find another solution.

As for the clips. Yeah, they aren't the tightest but when I close the case, even without the manual, it bulges out.

It must be me! I'll have to look to see if I have any more of these cases and see if they'll work. Maybe it's just this case.
