Until you've lifted an HD CRT, you don't know what a heavy TV is.

i know what you mean. I lift heavy regularly because of football and things like a tv will be a stuggle  :-[ because they weigh up to 150-200lbs by themselves.

I have a Samsung plasma TV and the thing looks amazing.

When I was looking for a HDTV last year I was worried about plasma because I remembered all the issues they had when they were first released, I did some research online and from what I found pretty much all the problems they did have are all a thing of the past, same goes with the issues LCDs had too. Pretty much they are the same, just different tech.

The real question you should be asking is the brand worth it. A Cheap brand could have alot of issues. I would look at reviews on Amazon and other sites and see if the TV has any know issues to start with.

As for the weight my 42" TV is pretty damn light.

i have a panasonic 42" plasma and a sony 52" lcd - picture on both is fantastic , although i think the sony has the edge (the panasonic is older though, so would expect that).  Plasma do weigh more, but how many times are you going to lift it?
