It's been pretty crazy on Long Island. My school is half boarding so we never get snow days, but we managed to get two this year (we've had three total in the past ten years). I've had to come in anyway to build set for the play and I can say this is not fun to drive in at all..

Oddly enough we are not getting enough snow. I am in Denver, and typically we have a lot of snow in January, but this has been the driest winter in a very long time. It was near 70 degrees here today. At least the Mountains are getting dumped on, but nothing in the city.

A few weeks ago we had a pretty bad snow storm that pretty much iced over the whole county, and stayed that way for 3-4 days, which is unheard of down here in South Carolina. Basically shut the whole town down for 3 days. Of course around here, it doesn't take but a snowflake or two and people start acting like a bunch of maniacs, running out and stock piling bread and milk.

Here in austria we had insane amounts of snow in December but since than there isn't much coming anymore. At least in low lying grounds. On our mountains there is always much snow. :)

I'm up in NH. Just climbed off my roof a little while ago....had about 2 ft on the roof.  there are 5-6ft snow mounds all around my car parking spaces. I think this is the most snow around here for me in the past 6-8 years....not to mention the -12° a week or so back

We have abot 1 meter of snow her with is not that unusual, but lapland has less than here in south, which is rarer.

Our water pump just broke, so no showering. Not a problem because I can shower at work.

Also drinking water is not a problem because we live at country side and the said snow is clean, just needs bit of boiling to be sure.

Been seeing on the news that US weather is crappy at the moment, so how crap is the weather at your part of US and how panicy is the situation?

For comparison I live in small town in Finland (about 3500 people). We got snowfall of about 30 CM during on night back in November.
But because my home town is potato farming town we have lots of tractors, so it took about an hour to clear all the roads so nothing really happened. :D

We only had a inch or so of snow the other day, but its more the cold that is shutting things down. it was -16 f (-26 c) this morning. I was lucky to get my car started.

Only about 3-5 snow days so far this winter in Seattle. It's the usual 40-45 degrees with the occasional light drizzle followed by beautiful sunshine this week. Has made our daily walks to the beach wonderful! :D
