Virtual Boy DVD Cover Thread

This DVD cover is based off of the US box but also has a few aspects from the Japanese box style mixed in.
It uses the original box front for the cover and 4 custom screen shots for the back. The original boxes strangely only have one screen shot on the back.

These are the first 3 games.

This is what all 14 US games would look like.

Note: The gray outlines are a little messed up from the render program.

Thanks for peoples input on the concept thread  8)

Template Info
http://www.ektophase.com/VirtualBoy/Virtual Boy DVD Template -Ektophase- V3a.7z right click save link as..
Best program for 7 zip is a free one called izarc.

This is a master template with all the games made so far and hopefully eventually have all the games in it for easy customization.
It is possible to add legal info, upc and esrb rating to the lower black section of the template if someone wants to replace the logos that are there currently. So if the template file says V3 that means 3 games are complete.

-Screen shots
to get the back screenshots you will need to use an emulator i used " reality boy" when you have this and the rom of the game you are working on open the front exe file and put the game in rom path,
set the zoom to 2X
set the palette to red
open the keymap.gif in the doc file you will have to use the ~ button to pause
now to get the screenshot you will have to use the print screen button on your keyboard and the when in photoshop go to file new the paste it and cut out the picture exactly it should be 768x448 once you have that resize it to 686x400 using the default bicubic

Some times to save time you can just watch the intro/demo play as long as it is the exact same as ingame. (some times there is demo flashing or the hud is missing so make sure)

-Cover
Once you have the cover placed right you will probably have to use the clone stamp tool to erase the corner of the esrb rating if its showing
(if some one were to add the esrb it wouldn't go on the picture it would probably go in the bottom right corner to the right of the nintendo logo)
If you have trouble with this post and i can help you out (save your origin cover scans in case we need to use them again)

Once your done 7 zip it, change the version number and get it back to me, could use an ftp, mega upload or email to my gmail account ektophase at gmail.com but let me know on here because i rarely check that email.

Rear Text, if you need more room for text change under the paragraph tab change the -4 to -5

Post any questions.

Hmm, glad this came out before I was thinking about printing the DS BV covers. Do you have a picture of how you plan to fit the VB games into a DVD case?

If you want the raws for the cover art, Ive already finished Warioland, Mario Clash, and Vertical Force with the old tempate. I can update those 3 with the updated template.

Well you have to use your imagination, mine I will probably put in cd/dvd paper sleeves just to protect them from rubbing on the dvd holder and keep them from sliding around too much. but you could also just cut a piece of thick paper the size of the case (like the thickness of a greetings card I think its called card stock) and put the game behind it. I'm sure there are better ways to come up with if you want to spend more time.

heres a shot of those two ideas
http://www.ektophase.com/VirtualBoy/VBDVD1.jpg

Sure thing, Ill throw them in a zip if i saved them otherwise I can rescan them tomorrow, If you want the back or sides i can scan those too
edit: ok so no wario land

Ektophase, if you want to upload your template I can put together Mario Clash and Vertical Force. I still have Panic Bomber to put together too.

Yeah, Shenske, an update to the DS template using these raws would be divine. I also made (DS) covers of my own for the Japanese versions of Panic Bomber, Golf, and Baseball, because I own the Japanese copies of those games, and the labels/boxarts are completely different. I just didn't upload them here because I wasn't 100% happy with how they turned out. If you make a new template, it would certainly give me a reason to perfect them further and make them site-worthy. ;)

I won't be including raw images in my template. The template is already big enough as is.

I won't be making a new template, i already made one.  The only thing i'll be doing is updating my template already in the Universal Nintendo Handheld Template. Updating this

Very nice work Ektophase! Your template looks really good!

The Virutal Boy section (which we should get sooner or later) could be complete pretty fast. There were only a handful of games made anyway. ;D
2 + 3 = 23

So it finally happened, we got our selves the first Ultra Member, congrats.

Anyway, been planning on buying some VB games, found all except Virtual Bowling, most at reasonable price.

So gotta save some money and buy them.

Will upload raws when I get them, but it might be a while.

I just laughed and wondered why you would buy some VB games...  I'm in VB right now and just wanted to put in my two cents that you can just download "V"isual B"asic games when I realized that I should continue doing my midterm and that you were talking about Virtual Boy.

Man I dont want to be here atm
