Anyone have any info do these work?

Was planning on buying few of both as Hori Game Boy Player pads are hard to come by.

I changed your title to be more clear. I hope you don't mind. I don't have any experience with the converters.

I've had both for sale as Retrozone sells them. They're both excellent. The NES is a little difficult to get an NES controller in there, but it works great with all models of the NES controller. Keep in mind that the Select button is mapped to Gamecube's Z buttons, so you will never have access to the Gameboy's Select button in any game you play on it. Using an NES controller to play Gameboy games through feels great and natural.

The SNES is where it's at for fighting games like Soul Calibur 2, retro games or playing GBA games. Same limitation as the NES though;  Select is actually Z.

Off the top of my head heres a few Gamecube games that greatly benefit from the SNES pad:

Soul Calibur II
Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO
Megaman Network Transmission
Megaman X Collection
Alien Hominod
Zelda Collection
Sonic Mega Collection
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Namco Museum

Both adapters have no lag and are really quality items. I highly recommend both. They  also work with any Wii games that support Gamecube controllers AND allow digital control. Some that do include the Ulatime Shooting Collection Shikigami no Shiro 3, Meramasa and obviously, most VC games.

Thanks for the answer satoshi_matrix!

I knew there was some hitch, and that's the lack of select button as I want to play Game Boy games.
Well I could always switch controllers when in need of select button ;D but too bad that they did not map select to the X or Y buttons of SNES controller, or better yet map Z to Y button and let select be select.

How are the SNES buttons mapped to work?

Could you list which SNES controller button corresponds to which NGC controller button

saying there's "no select" for GB/GBA games is kinda misleading. You'd just have to use the Y button or something instead.

I was thinking the same, that's why I asked.

I mean are the SNES Y and X buttons mapped as Y and X buttons Game Cube controller.

my immediate guess is ABXY = ABXY

even if I'm wrong, it'd be really stupid if there WASN'T an X or Y mapped to something.

whoops, my mistake. I forgot that the GB Player maps the GBA's select button to the X or Y button. In that case, then yes, all buttons on GBA are accessible with an SNES controller.

the mappings for the SNES to Gamecube are as such:

SNES     GC

+pad    +pad
Start     Start
A          A
B          B
Y          Y
X          X
L          L
R         R
Select   Z

and NES to GC

+pad   +pad
Select  Z
Start    Start
B         B
A         A

Thank you perfect.

As the NES adapter is not good enough (no select) I'll skip it, but will definitely order few of the SNES adapters.

the NES one is a great solution for playing original Gameboy games as most don't use Select for much of anything, and it is amusing to be able to play Sonic 3 & Knuckles with an NES pad  ::)

Given the interest from this thread and a few other forums, I decided to write an in depth review of the RetroPorts. Check it out.

JewWario recommended these for USB. I was just gonna buy a third SNES controller and gut it, but this looks like a much better option :)
