Do people on here ever make DVD/Blu-ray movie covers? Or are they not allowed on the site for piracy reasons.

Use this thread for any and all posts about Movie/Television covers. Make requests, show off your work, etc. -AQ

It's not really a piracy thing. Our site is dedicated to making game covers, not DVD's. Occasionally we'll do covers for UMDs and GBA Video, but only because they are designed for game consoles.

iirc there are already several sites that fill the high quality custom movie DVD cover niche. No reason for us to do that too.

Heh, I forgot that our site is the only one that really takes "high quality" seriously. That'll make Googling a bit harder. :P

Edit: http://www.dvdcoversfuzion.com/ This actually looks promising. TIME TO INVESTIGATE

I found a site, www.hirescovers.net

they seem to have some pretty high standards.

scratch that, they require a membership fee. Now in search of a template.

It would seem that most movie cover resources tend to want a fee. Maybe this site can corner the market on free movie covers only for the purpose of customization or replacement, haha.

Geez, I imagine this place gets enough traffic and strains Snowcone's resources enough just doing games. I couldn't imagine how much worse it could get if we started doing movies (and music? oh geez) too.

I never thought of that Apple, come to think of it, just having the covers hosted must cost him a lot, as the covers are quite large.

well, lets make this thread as kind of a small repository, as its not hosted on the site, but on media fire or any other file hosting site

I'd be ok with having an unofficial DVD covers thread. Here's some stuff that's' been on my request list forever. Does anyone even own these anymore? I provided scans:

*COPYPASTA*

EGM Newsstand Premium DVD's:  http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3b447cd870a8c52a7069484bded33bcdb66a74d0cbf50e8e
-Volume 1 "Smarch" 2004
-Volume 2 October 2004
-Volume 3 November 2004
-Volume 4 December 2004
-Volume 5 January 2005

I'm looking for a uniform look with all the spines/backs of these. The front covers just have to be resized and maybe redone to fit a DVD sleeve, and the backs can pretty much stay exactly how they are. I want the spines to correspond in color to the backs of each of these covers, and have "EGM Newsstand Premium Vol X" going down the side, with the bottoms of the spines having both a number and a little space invader guy facing upright, both matching the color of the space invader things in the background on the back of the sleeve. A few of the scans probably need some cleaning, but they seem to be in okay condition.

PSM DVD's: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3b447cd870a8c52a7069484bded33bcd671514080e9370c2
-Issue #89 Oct. 2004
-Issue #92 Holiday 2004
-Issue #95 March 2009
-Issue #104 December 2005

I'm looking for a similar type of thing with these covers, some sort of uniform spine with the fronts and backs for the most part intact.

In my opinion, the small membership fee at hirescovers is definitely worth it.

If nothing else, just for all the resource images you can get. Nearly every one of my 1000+ dvds and blu-rays have custom covers, although for most of them, I either make my own from artwork/posters/promo images, or modify a particularly good custom I see, because there's usually some small thing I don't really like about them.

Customaniacs is another good site. I'm pretty sure there was no membership fee there.

If you're interested in custom Star Wars covers, I very highly recommend the forum at OriginalTrilogy.com It is, for the most part, a great community there, and if you can't find a set of Star Wars covers that you like there, you'll never find one. And you can also find excellent restorations of the original Original Trilogy, as well as many other movies which have been altered from their original state for DVD releases, and plenty of high-quality fan-edits, too.

If you like Doctor Who, there are quite a number of sites with high-quality custom covers, particularly for the new series to match the original series' DVD covers.

I'm cool with an unofficial DVD movie cover thread, so long as the site's staff is fine with it

Oh wow, ever sense you posted that link I've been checking stuff out on there. Thanks a lot, these fan edits are actually really nice! The prequels are actually watchable now!
