The are some members I might consider taking my chances either by sending at the same time or very rare occasions send/pay first.

So I would say that less trusted ones (especially newbies) should send their stuff/pay first to the counterpart.

This seams like a good way of going, so what if the person is in a lower class, he send first, if you're in a lower class you send it first and on equal class they send at the same time? My I'm okay with that, I'm ready to trust guy such as Shenske, Applequeso, Snowcone, Zombiewolf, tiktektak... because they have a high level of ranking, but I wouldn't trust newbies to send them stuff first.

post limit requirements before you can make trade threads? etc.

You could easily just lift the rules straight off of another forum's trading board. the idea of a free-for-all trading board just doesn't settle well with me, plus we'll have assloads of folks just coming in to drop off their ebay links, which is something that frankly annoys the hell out of me.

This would just lead to semi-pointless posting to boost the score.

Yeah no ebay links. Either post here or post on ebay. Not both. Don't use forums to give your stuff enough publicity to boost your bid higher.

In my experience that doesn't really happen as often as you'd expect. It'd weed out a lot of folks trying to create accounts just to spam their crap on the trading board. The fact that they have to make say, 15-30 posts beforehand would deter a lot of them to begin with.
