I think you have hit the nail on the head with the paper size.

US letter is 3 inches shorter than US Legal.  Not sure why your printer thinks only letter is available, or how to add paper types.

Download the software and driver from HP's site here.

That just tells me to hook up my USB cable to my printer, and how Windows Update will download the drivers automatically. I've done that already. It even says that I don't have to do nothing, and that Windows already has the drivers ready.

Well, if thats the case, it'd be nice if I could find different papers sizes, however, that brings me to this quote:

Here's my properties page. Looks like yours.

If he has the same thing, and is able to print covers with no problem, then why can't I?

Geeez this is so aggravating, and the thing is, there is absolutely NO information about this problem when I search Google. None. At least I can't find anything. Its as if I have discovered a huge problem within Windows 7, or something. I don't even know anymore.

Regardless, I appreciate everyone of you guy's help. If SOMEONE out there can figure out this problem, please let me know. I'll keep checking up on this thread.

If it hasn't worked across three programs already, I doubt it's gonna work in Photoshop. Plus, I don't have it anyways.

But all jokes aside, only serious posts please. Seeing a response makes me think somebody has a solution. Not trying to be rude, but I have been at this for the past four days, and it's only working my nerves so much.

Yes my post was presented to partly be funny but i'm also serious.  Photoshop is at least 10x more powerful than any program you have tried so far.  You can download a 30 day trial for photoshop and the great price of ... free.  If the problems still persist when you print with photoshop then i suggest that it is actually your printer.  Perhaps it is setting some sort of automatic margins?

I understand man. I just want this fixed. I don't know what it's doing, and usually I can troubleshoot things like this, and fix them, but this one has got me stumped.

Ok, one last try. Back in June when I found this site I dug out my old laptop so I could take it with me to get scans for TCP. When I loaded the software for my HP from the original disc, the laptop didn't recognize it at all (it originally had windows 98 and I put xp on it). I downloaded the updated software and driver from HP a couple times and still nothing. I ran HP's troubleshooter which said to remove all software, drivers, other printers, clear all temp files, reboot etc..., then do a fresh install from their site. I was very happy after restarting and seeing "Found New Hardware" pop up, and it worked.

Not the same problem as your's but maybe the software is corrupted and needs to go.

Good luck  :)

perhaps before you try doing something like a fresh install, try getting a linux livecd of some sort and printing from that

So, I went into Print Management, and created a new form called Video Game, with the same dimensions as legal paper, and set the Margins to 0.5 for each. Saved it, then opened Paint.

I select Video Game, which is all set for me, and that right Margin goes back to 3.478. *SIGH*

So, I've decided that it has to be the printer driver that is causing this problem. It HAS to be. My only problem is, locating this driver, and maybe editing, or replacing it. But to replace it, would have to find the correct replacement.

Any ideas?

I would try calling HP tech support on seeing how to do a full reset of the printer's settings. Every printer is different, but each has a very specific fancy button combination to reset the firmware. Note that this is different than what you as a user can find in the settings, which doesn't fully restore it to factory settings. I'm pretty sure the problem is because you upgraded to Windows 7. I've had 2 HP printers, and sometimes they're been perfect, sometimes they've been finicky as hell. Using old printers with new computers, new operating systems, failed hard drives, etc. On top of all this I would suggest reinstalling all HP-related software, just to be safe.

This one stumped me, but as with any other program I deal with, generally scrapping everything fixes it. Tell me if this works ;)

I've tried everything. Guess I'm forced to buy a new printer. One that is compatible with Windows 7.

UPDATE:

So, come to find out, the drivers for my HP PSC 1209 printer that Windows Update has are indeed glitched. My friend had a Canon MP190 printer laying around that he said was pretty much never used, so he let me have it.

Hooked it up, Windows Update downloaded the drivers, and what do you know, my settings allowed me to do what I wanted them to do. 0.5 Margins and all.

I want to thank everyone for trying to help me through this newly found glitch, and be it that none of us could find a fix, I appreciate ya'lls time regardless.

Thanks.
