I need to get some DS cases, and I'd prefer official ones. Unfortunately the Nintendo online store only ships to US and Canadian addresses.

What I'm after is someone in the US or Canada who I can get these sent to, and then ship them out to me in Australia.

First things first, has anyone here bought DS cases from the Nintendo store? If so, how much do they charge for postage? And does anyone have an estimate how much it would cost to send 50 DS cases from the US to Australia, either having done so yourself or just judging by the size/weight?

I've found a place on eBay to get third party replacement cases, at $65 for 25 cases. So $130 for the 50 cases I need.

From the Nintendo store, I can get 50 official cases for $35, so even if the combined shipping ends up being $100, I'd rather spend that extra $5 for official cases.

So if anyone is willing to help me out, or has any alternate suggestions, please let me know.

Here's the breakdown.

$35.00 - 50 cases from Nintendo
$2.40 - Tax
$5.00 - shipping & handling
$42.40 - total to my house

The Nintendo site didn't give the shipping weight, just showed the $5.00 to ship it. I took an empty case to the PO, it was 2.1 ounces. 105 ounces plus around 10 ounces for the box would be 7lb 2oz. International Priority (6-10 business days) from me to you is $62.95. So the total would be about $105.35 give or take a bit.

That doesn't sound too bad.

Would you help me later to also get US DS cases?

I probably need up to 500 cases to case all my GB, GBA and VB games (and some left for future needs), but smaller amount would help me get started.

Sure, I'll help you out. I know nintendo will only let you order 50 cases. I don't know if you have to wait awhile to order more or if you can keep placing orders of 50.

Thanks  :D

Yeah, I've heard also of that 50 case limit, but I don't know either what is the wait period (or does it even exist).

But post here or PM me when you can help me.

Well, my order from Nintendo was cancelled. Here's the e-mail I received.

  Hello,

While we appreciate your interest in Nintendo products, we regret to inform you that the order you placed online with Nintendo has been canceled as it is for an excessive amount of parts and does not appear to be for personal use.

Per Nintendo's terms and conditions of sale, all orders of a particular item are subject to quantity limitations of five (5) or less. For more information, please visit:

https://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/NOASTORE/Terms.html#

If you have further questions or comments regarding your order please call our Consumer Service Department at 1-800-255-3700. Representatives are available every day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pacific Time.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.
(name removed by me)
Consumer Service Department

I called the 800 number, left a message, and I'm currently waiting for a call back.  The "Order Limitations" on their site reads like this:

"Items offered on the Nintendo Online Store are for personal use only. All orders of a particular item are subject to quantity limitations of five (5) or less. We reserve the right to cancel orders that appear to be for commercial or retail use. These restrictions apply to orders placed by the same customer, those using the same credit card, or those using the same billing/shipping address. In the event your order is canceled, we will attempt to notify you using the e-mail provided with your order."

I only ordered a quantity of 5, so I don't know why it was cancelled. I did order 10 ds cases in the past, maybe it's a combined limit of 50 total across all orders.

I just got a call back from Nintendo. He said orders of 50 are automatically flagged and a "yes" has to be selected for the order to go through. This is because they don't want to sell to retail. He asked me if the cases are for personal use and I said "yes" as I believe you do want these for yourself. He took my info again and the order is placed. :)

I don't want to try and place another order. :(  If I can get ahold of anymore I'll let you know because I know you want these for yourself.

Thanks for going to all that effort. It's much appreciated.

They are for personal use, yes, to case all my Gameboy/Colour/Advance games.

Ok, thank you, hope you get some extras.

And yes they are going to my personal use.

There are of course these EU version that are thicker and not original: http://www.rivierapublishing.co.uk/acatalog/Games_Cases.html

But I prefer thin ones for space saving.

what makes you think the ones at riviera are not original?

I have bought many from there and they are exactly the same as EU retail NDS cases.

Just that somehow I just assume that they would not get their hands on new original cases in such great quantities.

I would prefer US cases as they are slimmer, but EU cases are easier to cut and thicker manuals fit better, and now you say that they are original or at least the quality is as original... and Nintendo USA is being A*****E, I think I will go with the EU cases.

Thank you  ;D

I ordered from riviera in the past too.

The ones they are selling are 100% official EU retail DS cases indeed. :)
