I know Shenske does, of course.

I have a PDF manual I got direct from Nintendo for Endless Ocean. It includes some neato vector art sprinkled throughout the manual. Some of it is obscured by text and page borders. For example, the back page is around 2/3 vector art, but 1/2 of the 2/3 is covered by a white box similar to the back of a Wii cover.

I tried opening it with Illustrator, and it seems to work pretty well, but I have no idea how to get my vector art out of the rest of the document. I tried looking up how to do what I'm trying to do, have yet to find any help.

The manual is here.

Yes, thank you. I'd also like to learn how to do it myself, because there are other vector images throughout the manual. What do you do?

Which version of Illustrator are you using?

Ok cool.  When you run into trying to extract vector pieces from a pdf like this, you are going to run into items that are grouped together and have applied clipping masks.  If you select everything (Ctrl+A) and then go to Object->Clipping Mask->Release, it should release all of the art from inside the masks, allowing you to grab and delete what you don't want with the Selection Tool.  After you delete what you don't want, select everything you do want and re-group it (Ctrl+G).  You might want to re-size the artboard to fit the new outside dimensions of the art.  Now you can export a hi-res jpg or open it in Photoshop or just stay in Illustrator and finish your project.  Hope this was helpful  :D

Thanks. I'll try it right now. (Actually it was AI CS3 and PS CS4)
