Yes, but it is a really strange sort of genre that never appeared outside of Japan.  It plays a bit like a cross between RPG and text adventure game, leaning more towards the text adventure part.  Pretty neat though.

Is this pretty much a the same game as the one for the SNES or is it different? The fact that its developed by Taito excites me a little, but if it never got released it might be for a good reason. Cant seem to find the rom anywhere to try it out.

Seems to be the same as the SNES version. I just found out about it myself:

Yeah, but I think Space Ace on SNES was kinda cool cuz it followed the arcade format, although without the animation.

Yeah, as far as I know it's the same as the SNES one, the only difference is you have an extra attack - a ranged dagger toss, which is actually quite useful, ironically enough the animation for that attack is the only thing not completed in this game.  So that knife just kinda flies out of your character.  Everything else is complete and the game is fully playable and beatable.

Here is more info about it from the guys who dumped the rom off their proto cart: http://www.segaage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=49&threadid=52638

y'know what with this being a first post and all, it seems greedy, but
does anyone know where i can get a scan or anything of the Yu Yu hakusho Makyō Tōitsusen cover?

i just built a repro of it, but without a label and/or box it feels so incomplete, y'know?

Yeah I need that one too.  Though finding a scan seems to be pretty hard for this one, this game is so obscure, I don't know of anyone that has it.

This hack is pretty awesome, you get to play as all 3 characters through Sonic 2.  You can rotate who you're controlling and even take all 3 of them into the special stage.  They also have all their special moves from Sonic 3, including the elemental shields and even their super forms when you get the emeralds.  Surprisingly it runs really smoothly with only some slowdown during a few of the bosses.  Overall it's a pretty cool hack and it's supposed to run on real hardware.  You can find it here: http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=23302
