Wow those are both tremendously cool! Yeah those are perfect!

i think this artwork or something similar could be modified to work as the cover for the third game
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:BS3BoxCover.jpg

funny how the american release cut off all the of the interesting parts of the artwork off for their release.

just leave them as-is I like all of the ones you made  ;D

The only Real differences would be that the first game would be Labeled Circle of Blood
and the Fourth game would be labeled Secrets of the Ark instead of Angel of Death

is games for window the standard template now in retail? I was not using it because at first I thought it denoted that the games had special games for windows features built into it.

i must say it's grown on me - wasn't keen on using it at first, but now i've completed a few customs for people i think i might switch to it.  Although, as i'm about to move to a 7mm case for my own collection, it will be a VERY modified spine i end up with.

Sonic R - Not bad for 50 pence!

Looks basic - but so was my original.
I prefer this one for some reason. I just like the simplicity of this template. The GFW one is pretty good too though.

I was thinking about modding a design to feel a little more home grown but attempt to match current cover spines in a way. My old attempt was based off of the PC DVD/CD template which I always thought was hideous and hence the final product I produced stayed to close to that for the sake of matching spines.

Examples of my previous attempt:

I don't like that one in the Sonic R version as some of it feels low res, odd textures and feels abit amateurish, that is just personal preference though.

So that being said, I would like to implore the users of this board to help design a new cover. It does not have to be one everyone uses but at least it would bring in a standard of sorts. We could work on a different Dos, Window, Mac, Linux configuration if it were desired as well think and thick spines. Everyone using it should get a say on it's production and anyone can contribute mockups and designs at any point. Not everyone is going to like everything but at least everyone gets a say.

The one standard I would put out for these templates though is the images MUST be of the highest quality. Nothing that seems scanned or of a low dpi fell. The template I originally built was built using vectors and I would like to see that again if possible.

agreed - i remade the games for windows banner on the ones i have just submitted, as the one on the site is a pretty grainy scan.

i was using Hexxers "PC Game" template for a while, but have gone off it.  I quite like the Windows logo banner that Sonic R is on, but my favourite at the moment is the "Games for Windows" - However, as i said above, I am moving to 7mm so I don't mind which standard gets passed for DVD cases, as i'll probably just end up doing my own thing anyway - unless of course we do a 7mm version of the adopted standard.............

I think whatever standard we decide on will include a 7mm plus any other common DVD case sizes. I like the Games for Windows cover but it's kinda like putting a SNES cover on a Genesis game, Games for windows represents some features like XBox 360 controllers, windows live accounts among other things. I would say a good reference point would be the games for windows case as it is simple and has some elegance in it.
