This is because of the "&" in the filename. Our sites script or sth like that doesn't like special characters in the filenames. Not much we can do about.

Sounds like you gave up on hope?  There is much you can do about it!

1) Go to the page with the picture you want to download
-->       http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=4916

2) Right-click the thumb-nailed picture and click "View Picture"
-->       http://www.thecoverproject.net/images/covers/nes_ad&dpoolofradiance_thumb.jpg

3) Delete "_thumb" from the address.
-->       http://www.thecoverproject.net/images/covers/nes_ad&dpoolofradiance.jpg

4) Right-Click and save the picture.  Viola, Done!

That still doesn't fix the problem unfortunately although it is a nice workaround.
