LordXaero , I also have the sticker on my TV.  I also bought it at Walmart.  My wife is the most un-tv person on the planet. She cant sit though a movie if her life depend on it.  But yet she walks in my room and always comments on how awsome the picture looks.

Haha. I can see someone doing that. I'm glad your happy with the TV man.

You know, I'm not a rich guy either, in fact I'm a real cheapass. So, I hear where you're coming from! I personally do a ton of research and compare tech and prices before spending a lick of my hard earned dime on anything. Since getting the absolute best bang for my hard earned buck matters greatly to me, I took the time to learn as much as I could before my purchase because I don't care to fall into the old trap of a "fool and his money" and all that. There's a myth out there that Vizio is a great bang for your buck, especially for people short on cash. I don't mind dispelling that notion when I can help people. When you said you did your research I figured you'd like to know that you could get a much better TV for the same price that you've paid. Nonetheless, I hear you. So, my bad, you didn't ask for the advice, and I see how I came off rude. You've been cordial so I apologize. Like I said, I do like the setup, so cheers. :)

Fair enough.

After all, this is my first HDTV, so let me enjoy it, and then maybe one day, I'll move to something nicer.

Until' then, I'm happy.

Besides the newer Sammys with LED backlight (especially the 8xxx and 9xxx series) have real nice blacks too! Almost plasma like and they need less energy and are slim and light as paper.

Lag may still be a problem but all the other stuff you mentioned is at least partially a thing from the past.

Yeah, I looked into LEDs as a potential purchase but the tech just isn't really there yet to put it over the top of a good Plasma. Close, but no cigar. Now when OLEDs are out in force, and cheap enough for the average buyer, I'll definitely consider the tech. It is razor thin, flexable, transparent, and produces much better image quality compared to LCD/LED technology. Seriously, click on the links, OLED is amazing! :o

LED Tech is not in it'd infancy anymore. Not as good as a kuro but still better than anything LCD have ever been able to do. After all were in the third generation LEDs now and especially the Sammys and Sonys are pretty astounding. Just the other day I watched Clash of the Titans on the 9xxx Sammy LCD of a friend of mine (=6000 Euros  :'( ). I was really impressed altohugh I could never afford this TV.

OLED is the future that is sure but the technology behind it is really not ready for the consumer market for the next ten years I think. For now it is too expensive to even think about a big screen and the failure rate of the OLEDs is much to high too.

Hey dude, can I ask where you got your shelves from, or at least what make/model they are?  Those would be perfect for my room.

To be honest with you man, I wouldn't know. My friend bought it for me a long time ago as a gift. She did get it from Walmart, but they change their inventory so frequently, I highly doubt they carry that model anymore.

I wish I knew, I wouldn't mind getting two more myself.

That is one nice collection, i wouldn't mind a Boxed 64DD myself, i keep looking but they cost a small fortune.

Might post my collection if i can ever get round to unpacking it and getting some bookcases.

Is there ANY point to 120hz TVs?

Well, they have 60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz. It's the refresh rate at which the TV can process. Obviously the higher, the better.

Here's a video explaining:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG1HMwz-_yc

I'm sorry to drag the TV thing out a bit more but this post (and that video) really bother me. Higher hertz is not necessarily better. For something like sports (or games) this guy is absolutely right. When it comes to...well, anything not sports or games though, he is ever so wrong. 120hz is (surprisingly) ideal for movies. Film is run at roughly 24 frames per second, and doing a 5:5 (each frame is shown 5 times) pulldown, it can be shown at its intended projection rate. This is why Blu-Ray advertises 24p. I'd imagine the same would be true at 240hz for a 10:10 pulldown, though I'm not sure if this is supported. Once you hit 120hz+ (for things that aren't on Blu), it gives everything a pretty crappy video shot look. A lot of Hollywood people are actually pretty displeased with these high refresh rate TVs, because they take all of their work and make it look amateur.

Anywho, I'm glad you enjoy your TV. You did get a killer deal, and honestly, once you get an HDTV calibrated, I don't think there's a whole lot of difference between brands.

I like that Game Boy setup. What are you using to prop them up?
