With my workhorse gone, I've been having to use a much lesser computer lately. One that can't even handle the templates hosted on this site - as such, it's kinda put a stop to my activity.

So, I decided to go for a simpler route. What if covers were made now how they were way back when? It's an idea I got when I saw the Venture Bros Season 3 in stores, and it made me think it would be a decent way to still make a cover, but not have my computer blow up immediately. (It still told me it was about to run out of space/RAM, but this time it did it after I was finished! That's progress!)

I might make a series out of this. I like the idea, personally. The best thing about covers from back then was that they didn't even need to have characters that resembled the characters in the game, so almost anything works.

Resistance: Fall of Man

Dunno if this is something the site would actually be interested in hosting, which is why I posted it in general.

I think the idea is interesting but the oldschool style of the "template" and the modern controller pic and screenshots collide in some way.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
There was a similar thread on NeoGAF where they were going for a simple look like the Criterion Collection DVDs.

But man, your idea is even better and the cover looks awesome :) I really wouldn't mind seing more of these. If you really turn these into a series or even create a template for others to work with please keep the orange. It just looks so old school :)

Great idea, great cover, that's the bottom line.

I agreed with ya, so I decided to upgrade the downgrade.

haha I love it.  I've seen people make old school cover art for games before and thought that that sort of thing would be awesome for dvd covers.

Ok now I'm in love. ;) The only thing you could still try is demaking the screenshots (which could be impossible). ;D

Speaking of demaking check these out. I wouldn't mind playing some of these if they were made into actual games.
