I'd like to put my PS1 games into half sized DVD cases, but when I resize the covers from this site they always come out looking a little off. I have a Mac so I'm using Preview to resize them. Is there anything I should be doing to keep the images from getting distorted when resized to half height?

The best thing you can do is get raw scans of the PS1 inserts and just mash them into a single cover. I did a mockup of this with Crash Bandicoot 3, but it never really took off.

Aren't Half sized DVD cases basically just jewel cases?

Size-wise, yes, which is why I'd like to use them since they'd still look like original PS1 games. But they're much more durable. Most of my PS1 games lack cases, but the few I do have are all cracked.

I tried doing this myself with my collection... however because of the time it would take and my lack of motivation I ended up re-casing the few I DID do back into their original jewel cases anyhow.
(I still have 80-90 half height DVD cases)

I found some scans of the fronts and backs to the games I need on GameFAQs, but they're pretty poor quality. Would anyone be willing to spruce up those images if I listed the games I needed? Or is there some site I could do myself on? I don't have Photoshop or anything like that.

Well instead of dealing with sub par covrs around the internet, you can ask us if we can scan specific covers for you. That is what we're here for ;)

*Thread resurrection*

After looking around on Google and not finding any sites selling 3-4 disc half height cases that would ship to the States, I was going to give up and just use regular DVD cases, but I found this today.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140438337407&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1352wt_893

I needed these for games like Lunar: SSSC and FF7-9. I figured people here would be interested in these, too. I'd like to help in creating a bunch of half height covers, but I only have nine games that I could scan both front and back and I'd have to borrow my mom's old all-in-one (which used to be mine :P) so I'm not sure how good its scanning quality would be.

It seems to me that they'd be easier to make than the DVD covers, since it's basically just cleaning up raws and maybe altering the spine a little. I think they're the better option, since it retains the original look but aren't as fragile as jewel cases. And with games like Lunar: SSSC, I can just swap the cases and still keep the game in its neat little cardboard box with its hardcover manual. The only reason I could think of for people not choosing half height cases would be they are a little harder to find, so hopefully linking to that eBay seller will get some more people interested in such a project. The seller also has single and double cases for sale. I'd really like to help, but I have no Photoshop skills whatsoever.

Problem is 1/2 height DVD cases are not as easily accessible compared to normal DVD cases. Another problem is 1/2 height DVD case dimensions vary form case to case depending on the manufacturer. Photoshop-wise 1/2 height covers are much easier to make for the DC & PS1 generation games but i think the problems i pointed out outweigh the upside.
