I've just scanned some of my favorite SNES titles. The scans are of good quality I think, as all the boxes are in new or newlike condition :) However, I am unable to clean them up.. If someone could make proper retail covers of them, that would be very much appreciated!

Here's a link to the scans:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S1LNA78V

The titles included are:

1. Battletoads & Double Dragon (PAL)
2. Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (PAL)
3. Super Metroid (PAL)
4. Contra III: The Alien Wars (NTSC-US)
5. Return of Double Dragon (NTSC-J) (--> = Super Double Dragon)
6. The Combatribes (NTSC-J)

Link not working.

These we already have:
1. Battletoads & Double Dragon (PAL): http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=4137 (No pal one though)
2. Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (PAL): http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=2159
3. Super Metroid (PAL): I think these we have enough http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=630
4. Contra III: The Alien Wars (NTSC-US) :http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=1907

These on the other hand might have nice new graphics as JAP usually have:
5. Return of Double Dragon (NTSC-J) (--> = Super Double Dragon)
6. The Combatribes (NTSC-J)

I checked the site to see what was already on there. Some covers were not worth scanning because there were already such nice versions of them available (for instance, the Gradius III retail cover is perfect).

These we already have:
1. Battletoads & Double Dragon (PAL): http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=4137 (No pal one though)

Indeed, no PAL cover. Its very different and very rare to find in good condition. The scans I uploaded are of a near perfect PAL-box.

2. Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (PAL): http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=2159

Different PAL-cover. The one on the site is the purple australian one, this one is black and has different languages. Sorry, didn't mention that..

3. Super Metroid (PAL): I think these we have enough http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=630

Yea i saw that one.. Didn't look very nice though, so I've made scans that it can be replaced with a better one maybe.

4. Contra III: The Alien Wars (NTSC-US): http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=1907

Now that one is absolutely HORRIBLE. Again, the scans I made are rather good so a much better retailcover can be made with those I think.

BTW I've checked the link after uploading the pictures and it worked fine. Just checked it again and it still seems to work fine.. Is anyone else having trouble with the link? I really don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Great :)

BTW I would clean these scans up myself, it's just that I'm a real noob and there's no guide about how to do it properly..

Ok, so I tried making a proper retail cover for Super Metroid using Paint. It seems possible, but it takes a rediculous amount of time. Here's what I got so far:

But like I said, its just waaaaay too time-consuming this way! I really need someone to explain how to use photoshop for this kind of thing..

Honestly, and this probably won't be of much help, but the best way to learn photoshop is to just jump in and figure it out. The healing brush and clone tool will be your best friends.

Ok, well I tried messing around with Paintshop a little bit, using the pattern brush a lot especially.. Finished the Super Metroid cover and I think the result is excellent, but it still took ages:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FFW2LWB8

After that I was messing around a bit more and found out that using the Magic Wand tool and then selecting "invert" is a great way to copy text and images and it would probably have saved me hours using that function  :(

Anyway, please give me some feedback on the cover I made!

Yeah I was using Paint for a pretty long time before I switched over to PS. It is possible to make nice covers in paint but your scans need to be pretty clean since there isnt a whole lot you can do to fix them up. Altho I did get a few covers approved while I was using paint, using PS makes so much more sense. And if your good enough with paint to make a cover that gets approved youd might as well be using PS anyway, I caught on really quick.

the problem with paint is that everytime you save a JPG, artifacts occur, and less quality is preserved.  You save it 5 times, and the whole picture will look like crap compared to the original.  Photoshop gives the option to keep quality in place for a larger filesize.  Photoshop you can choose 12/12 for maximum quality, paint gives a standard 7/12 or so and you cannot change that.

Ok, just made another one of Return of Double Dragon:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q4DMSJ8R

Please let me know what you think of it. I used photoshop a lot more this time and I'm getting the hang of it (although it still takes me a lot of time)

This title is not on the site yet either, so I also tried uploading it but got an error message  :-\

Ok now I need some help.. I Just created the Contra III retail cover and it turned out beautiful! Also, after discovering a few nice tricks I edited Super Metroid and Return of Double Dragon a bit more. However, somehow (and I don't know how this happened), the Super Metroid cover dropped from 300 to 95 dpi! The other 2 are still 300 dpi... Is there a way to change this back, WITHOUT resizing the cover? I mean its basically just info for the printer, right?

Please help me out here!
