Different UGCs and manuals...

Ok, so I found out I have some UGCs that differ from the ones mediashelving.com is selling. They're a bit thicker than one inch and have a different inside structure. Here's a picture:



These boxes have the same problem with SNES/N64 manuals however:



BUT, since these boxes are a bit thicker, they are able to close properly with even a thick manual or a manual with a bunch of other paperwork. This is a picture where there's a US SNES cartridge underneath the manual, WITH a plastic dustcap on it as well:



So wouldn't you all agree that this thicker (probably older) UGCs are a lot more convenient? I mean what's the point of boxing your games when you still have to store the manuals somewhere else? And does anyone know who manufactured these and where I might be able to buy some?

The UGC's were using now doesnt really bother me. You can still comfortably fit your manuals in the sleeve behind your cover. Not to mention I dont think these cases will be available for purchase and even if they are, onverting to thicker UGC's would mean more time and less space.

Yea, I read that suggestion in another thread (not sure by who) and tried it, but I don't like it at all..

I do however agree with you on the size-issue, but fitting manuals is much more important to me.

I suggest of using 27mm wide DVD cases, like I do.

If your American:

Any of the big dvd/bd case shops should have 25-28mm cases, most will be the trays but some will be stackpaks.

Thanks for the suggestion Arseen, but wouldn't the cartridge just be loose inside the box though?

Anyway, aside from the manual-issue everything about the UGC seems to be perfect.. I guess I'll just find a way to order a bunch and store the manuals elsewhere.

Well if its NES and Geneis games theres no problems there, but if its SNES or N64 your best option is my suggestion. And most manuals are thin enought that you dont even notice once you put them on a shelf, unless its a thick RPG manual or something. But if your just going to store them somewhere how about cutting out ALL of the tabs in the UGC and store them all in there. I just checked and they fit perfectly and you could probably store at the very least 25 manuals per UGC. Store all your SNES manuals is one UGC and the N64 in another, then just print yourself out some simple covers and your set. That would be a decent alternative.

That sounds like a nice idea! I think thats what I'm gonna do
