--- Quote from: wiggy on August 28, 2012, 10:11:25 PM ---I wonder how these paint jobs are holding up. That paint doesn't do well with lots of handling, plus the lack of adhesion promoter when painting plastic parts = bad news. How this should be done, Remove labels Scuff pad Adhesion promoter Base coat Top coat New labels --- End quote --- So could this be pulled off using something like Dupli-Color adhesion promoter and one of their automotive paints in rattle cans? I'd assume that would HAVE to be durable enough since it's used on cars. It'd be nice since the whole solution would be cheap too... |

Dupli-Color's adhesion promoter is sorta weaksauce. If you want a decent rattlecan adhesion promoter, then I suggest Bulldog. http://www.amazon.com/Klean-Strip-BULLDOG-ADHESION-PROMOTOR-15oz/dp/B002GUGH04/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346288586&sr=8-1&keywords=bulldog+adhesion This is what I'd use for a rattlecan topcoat. http://www.amazon.com/CLEAR-HIGH-GLOSS-M-I-R-COMPLIANT/dp/B00269RUUQ/ref=sr_1_10?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1346288616&sr=1-10&keywords=clear+coat Pretty much any base coat will get the job done as long as you properly prep and add a durable topcoat. |
