Found a font that is really close. Now I just need to work at getting all the scans I need::)

I'll help you with some scans. I have a couple scans already for when the uploads are working again. You say you've been buying up games, are you going to scan and load raws or covers here? If so let me know which ones (no need to scan duplicates). Maybe a list of what you have or need would help also.

you're going to get some glare/reflection off the jewel case if scanning like that - also colours will be slightly off and scratches/marks will be harder to clean up.

Glare is not a problem, color is not a problem that can be adjusted with curves and levels.
I am doing it this way because to me it looks better to show what the game truly looks as a display rather than just a scan of the cover. Cover scans can be found anywhere on the net ... I want to do something different from what is already out there.
Once I get home and have a chance I will show you an idea of what I have in my head that I'm going to do.

Yeah but if your going to scan them for the site so we can make covers out of them you might aswell take them out of the jewel case. Its absolutely pointless to scan them in the jewel case since we would just have to put in extra time and effort to remove it anyway. Sure what your doing is defferent but its not necessary, at least around here anyway. Think about it.

Well that of course is obvious. Where in my post did I mention anything about my scan that I was doing being for the cover project? Think about it!
The cardboard boxes I scan I can upload no problem. Heck I can even scan the instruction covers and upload them if they are needed, that too is not a problem.
I know about graphic design and understand that a clean scan is more useful than a scan from behind a jewel case, I've been doing graphic design for over 10 years.

It's literally pointless to scan them like that - you can easily go from "front cover scan" to "what it looked like in a jewel case", it's much harder to go the other way around.

The reason I posted it here because I thought maybe, just maybe, the people that were in this post had some love for the TG16. I apologize, I guess I was wrong.
I was looking for assistance from those that were willing. If your not interested in helping out so be it! I never asked for your opinion if it was difficult to clean an scan that's in a jewel case. That never even came up.
That is exactly MY point.

And to those who are just jumping into the conversation go back and read the previous posts. I don't want to explain again as to why I'm wanting them in jewel case (for my personal project NOT for thecoverproject).

As I said previously I would be happy to send my scan of just the boxes and manual covers since I'm buying up all the TG16 games I can get my hands on. If you don't want the help with this end of the cover project just say so.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
I think there's just a misunderstanding. If your project involves scanning the games in their jewel cases and show them that way then by all means do it. Hell, if you don't have them already I'd be glad to help you out and scan Dragon Spirit and/or Blazing Lazers in their jewel cases. I think the thing that leaves people a bit puzzled is why you don't upload a normal scan first or after. Like "Hi this is me, this is a scan for game xy. oh and by the way, this is what  I have in mind" :)

You see, we welcome every new cover and every scan if people come to the forums and care to share them. It's just that...we are a greedy bunch :)

Hi, Thor.

I'm here because I'm working in a similar project to yours. I build the "real" package using photoshop wich, for me, is more convenient. Here is an example:

...and I also would love to have your inlay scans without jewel case, this way I could avoid some image cleaning.

Regards.

LOL Random that is so funny... I was doing the exact same thing that your doing for Genesis 32X and Sega CD. I found that I had bit off more than I can chew though because combining all those games became a very tedious project. That is why I've reverted to the TG16 it will be a much smaller project to start with. Looks great by the way love the textured plastic sleeve that you added.
As I've already said before I will upload what I have for the TG16 so that's not a problem. I will upload them today as a matter of fact if they are not already on the site.

Well I've rescanned all the covers w/o jewel case and tried to upload but every time I get an error "There appears to be a problem with the file your are uploading" and I've tried to use different browsers. Files are jpg format. Any clues?
And as for jewel case scanning if you said you would help me with that don't worry about it. I would still like to get my hands on HuCard scans though.

Upload function still not working since the server move unfortunately - if you could keep hold of them until the site's working fully, and try again..............none of us know when that's going to be though  >:(
