So I want to get some feedback from you guys on the best way to organize the forums for discussion. Layout by case type or by platform? Or heck, some other totally random way?

I really like your layout and how you organized the cover section by case type. I really think if it starts on such a high level this site is going to rock! :)
Excellent job

I think the forums should be organized by platform.
Overall I think the site looks great. Should be a nice home for the covers  :)

So 1 vote for by platform and 1 for by case type. That is always fun.

I don' t want to start any problems... or open a can of worms, but I was kind of hoping that we could have a section for PS1 original type (CD case) artwork. I know people like to convert their PS1 artwork to PS2 cases, however, some of us old timers (me) prefer the old standard CD type case which takes up a lot less room on the shelf.

As I said over on the other forum, I don't mind scanning my PS1 coverart and manuals so people can create PS2 style covers, however, I would appreciate being able to download the original artwork/manuals to complete my collection in CD case format.

I setup the site to handle both types so fear not we can handle both types of covers. I'd like to get some more feedback from SMMM, Valeman, and a few other regs on the best layout for discussion.

Just a question before things take off and this will be too off-topic... So NTSC PS1 games came in a normal CD case??? I have only one NTSC game for my PS1 and that's Resident Evil 2 which came in a double CD case. Since some of the PAL games that had more than one CD came in the same cases I thought that the normal NTSC games came in the same cases as European games (the same size as normal CD cases but with a wider spine - about double the size of a normal spine)

This really seems to be a bad habit of European game companys. The Nintendo DS, the Dreamcast and "now" the PS1 all differ in size from its American and Japanese counterparts (and everytime it's the spine that's wider) My US and JAP Dreamcast games really look like they're not part of my collection standing between the blue PAL games :-/

Yes, original PS1 games came in CD cases and at some point they came in tall cd cases I belive, but only very early on. Double disc games did come in funky double cd cases over here too.

"Welcome to the Real World"

Like wshbrngr I find the whole DVD case cover thing lost on me for games for Dreamcast/ PSX and so forth. Personally, I'd dump that category and simply have a different discussion around the seperate consoles .... after all it is a discusson forum for the particular console and hopefully wont get inter-console crossover.
At the end of the day when a person looks at the cover site ... with Snowcone's new setup it'll be obvious which cover is for a particular box type.

Just an opinion .... that's all ....

In the topic of PAL games .... yeah .... those cases for PSX & Dreamcast suck. That's why I bought a US DC  :)
Seriously... the whole double width thing doesn't do anything for me. They just take up 2x the space for 0x any benefit over the standard cases. I'll stick with standard cases  any day over those crappers ......

As far as PSX covers are concerned I think you're a 100% right. They really look crappy and I'm thinking about replacing them with DVD or CD cases, haven't made my mind up yet. But I really like the design of the Dreamcast cases. They are an eyecatcher in your collection the way they should be :) It's just annoying that it's actually easier to replace all of them with DVD cases instead of trying to make the few import games that I have (US and JAP in my case) look like the standard European ones.

Another vote for platform, you couldn put the platforms in forum sections of case type.
Like:
DVD Cases:
PS1
DC
Saturn

DS Cases:
DS
GB
GBA
GBC

etc.

Yeah, I think that would be a good compromise. That way you could see both what platforms are available and the case you'd need
