Hey all -- in my continuing quest to be a huge pain in the ass, I'm putting in my request for a pretty big undertaking. I'm looking to get the below (huge) list of existing Genesis covers to look more uniform. For some of them, it's just a matter of the red spines not matching (incredibly noticeable on some, like Wolverine compared to Maximum Carnage). Others (Separation Anxiety) need a bit more work, as it almost looks like a raw scan; and still others (Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk, X-Men) would need complete re-designs.

My ultimate vision is having all of these covers in UGC cases, all with the red spine style, all the same shade of red. I've included links to the existing covers, and for almost all of them I can provide new raw scans if needed. I know this is a pretty huge thing to ask, but if anyone wants to kill some time over their summer, it would be appreciated ;D

I've noticed the disparity in color too.  Which version/color of red bars do you prefer?

Like Toy Story?
http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=11063

Or Disney's Aladdin?
http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=8505

Maybe even something different?

I personally think the Aladdin colors look better. But, as long as they're all uniform, I don't mind either way :)

Three down ... MMPR The Movie a complete remake of the one i made a while back for you. It has more accurate colors, image and text placement.  Also, I'm going to make a UGC & Genesis size case versions for all of these.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Spiderman

alternate (I'm assuming this is what you want)

I have to eat lunch and go to work in a few hours so we'll see how many i can get through  :)

If you upload those to our site you should really consider replacing our current ones as they look extremely superior to those we have at the moment.

I actually saw the original spider-man(original) here a few weeks ago for 10 dollars, I was looking at picking it up and doing a proper scan. Do you feel the quality on your new cover is high enough or should I still pick it up?

I'll finish converting the rest up too.  I already got the hard ones out of the way (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie & Spider man old style) so the rest should be a breeze.  :)  EDIT: Well the more i look at it maybe not a breeze ... Hulk & X-Men could take some time converting

I wouldn't feel right about replacing the current covers.  The ones i posted are not retail. They have slight spine variances like the logo placements and characters that were removed.  I can replace the Power Ranger The Movie cover but the rest differ too much from the retail versions that it would not be fitting to replace them.

It's not the greatest quality but it will do.  If you were planning on purchasing the game then go ahead and do so. I'll certainly accept a new scan of the cover but don't go out of your way to get the game unless you were already planning on it.  :)

Ah ok didn't compare them thoroughly enough. If they differ then no replacement. ;)

Would be nice if some time in the future we could replace all those old not so hot covers on our site. Oh well.

Spider-Man
http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?game_id=1781

Spider-Man (a different one)
http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=3658

These two spiderman games are completely different games right?  From the screenshots it does not look like a rerelease of the game with new packaging.  Should we split the two games into separate sections? Maybe we could do it in a similar fashion to Tetris & Tetris (Tengen) on the NES. Maybe Spiderman (Acclaim) & Spiderman (Sega?) ?

EDIT:
To answer myself: After some research they are two different games. I really think we should separate them since they are two different games that share the same game name.  The Sega version of Spiderman was also known as Spiderman vs. the Kingpin.  So we could rename them Spiderman (Acclaim) & Spiderman (aka Spiderman vs. the Kingpin).

With the exception of (I believe) the Power Ranger games, I should have the original covers for all the games I posted in the OP. Let me know if you want them re-scanned, so we can have originals on hand. Aslo, shenske, if better scans would make your life easier for this project, let me know and I can grab them this weekend :)

Right, these are definitely different games.

I always tend to do naming following the naming in some places like mobygames or gamefaqs.

There they say one is called

The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin

and the other

Spider-Man: The Animated Series

How about that?

We should definitely split the section because those games aren't the same!

Now we just have the problem how to split the sections. Can we do that with our current tool?
