What is it with this site and the orange 32x stripes?
I think it's just that the higher powers agreed on the colorscheme, and want everybody to use the agreed shades so the covers look consistent. They could have agreed on lightwer shade in the beginning, but now it's too worksome to change, as the older covers would have to also be changed to match the new shade.
I can understand and respect that, but at the same time the templates get updated all the time as the site grows and we improve our methods. The Sega seal has been updated several times as have the 1 and 2 player symbols. Also, it wouldn't be that much work to update the 32x section, that whole system only had about 35 games released, and we don't even have covers for all of them. Also, I could volunteer for a massive 32x updating project since I just came into the possession of a large number of high quality 32x scans on which I will be working over the next few days. I literally have scans for most of the 32x library.
I think that on many printers, the lighter stripes end up coming out as one solid yellow color, so the darker, orange looking stripes were probably added to increase the contrast and emphasize the separation.
I think printers have trouble differentiating between certain similar colours. I know that some of the older Genesis covers printed as one solid colour. However I've printed a few of these 32x covers on different printers and you can definitely see the separation between the stripes. I can provide pics if needed.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful or anything. I just think that perhaps we should consider updating the 32x template. (Also the blue MD one, but that's another conversation).
