It looks good LJ, you missed two of the circles the original owner thought wise to put on the front. They had 4 circles in total, two on the main picture, and then two on the smaller picture the guy is holding in the main picture.

Does anyone have an idea why someone would do that? Jeesh. I mean putting your name on a cart at least I can see why they did it, even if I wouldn't. But circling crap for no reason.

Thanks LJ42, I appreciate all your work on these. Are you still actively collecting NES games yourself? Or are you focusing on Dreamcast atm.

My final boxed NES game of 2007 arrived today from ebay. The artwork on the front is amazing, I can only assume this was part of SETA's "Design a cover" competition held in the regional elementary schools.

Then again after playing the game, perhaps it was a "Design and develop a game" competition.  ;D

I made all the NES games which were ok quality wise available on the site....

Some didn't make it but rest assured I took a very close look and spent the whole afternoon today to check every single cover in photoshop.... Problem is that some off the covers came from pretty bad scans obviously or just looked not finished(still had blemishes etc...). Some were pretty pixealted or had non readable blurred text....

The quality of our covers on the site is the most important thing in my oppinion so if it can be done better then it should be done better.... ;)

Thanks anyways for all the contributions and keep it up....

Thanks. Were the cover artists notified what was wrong with their covers so they could correct?

Thanks for revisiting them so fast.... It's always a pity if covers are not usable....

Ok for feedback again....

Pinball and Taboo are nice now and ready for posting(I cleaned the back text of Taboo just a bit more)...

W&W 2 is alittle of a problem child.... The back is nice besides the edges of the little text at the bottom where the text is very unsharp as are some of the screenshots texts on the back.... I sharped it a little(it's still unsharp but unfortunately can't be done better I suppose(a better scanned back would be great)).... You know it's the same old problem as often.... When people scan covers they don't make them really really flat on the scanner bed so the light get's distracted when scanning and the outcoem is unsharp where the cover wasn't flat on the scanner bed... *sigh*
The front of the W&W2 cover also was a little bit of a bitch.... There where many signs of glue residue on teh body of the warrior and on the front in general.... I tried to fix it the best I can and it looks better now(I think removing the glue prior to scanning would have been a good idea)....

Trojan is still unusable unfortunately.... Just take a close look at the back text(especially the small text at the bottom)... It shows signs of low res or bad scanning.... The front is grainy too.... I suppose a new scan of this cover should be made....

Thanks for all your time guys....

I flattened all my NES cases with a 5 inch book, including Ironsword. I will rescan if required, even at higher than 600 DPI.

From what I can gather, including the original Mega Man cover already posted on the site, the original classic Capcom covers are almost impossible to clean up. I used the Mega Man cover on the site for the background of my Gunsmoke repair, after it was rejected I looked at it closer and I am not sure how the cover was approved to begin with. The text is very blurry or bled out.

I spent about 4 hours last night working on a "custom" implementation of the classic Capcom covers. It uses the same gradiant etc and will try to approximate the original look as best as I can. Since it is not just a cleaned up scan we will have to classify them as "custom" however I want to get as close to the original covers as possible.

I think it could be used as a template to provide a better version of Mega Man, Commando, Trojan, Ghost and Goblins, Gunsmoke etc.

Has anyone identified any of the font faces, sized etc used for these covers, legal text etc.

The Ironsword cover is good enough now I suppose(not perfect but good enough).... Lumberjack and meself spent so much time cleaning it that it would be insane to start all over.... ;D

For the Mega Man cover(challenge series covers).... Maybe I didn't look close enough when posting those covers otherwise it wouldn't have been approved without further adjustments.... But what is that is... Removing covers which are available from our database is kind of tricky(only one person can do it) so it's final..... There are so many covers to post that I can't look at every single one very closely everytime especially now because I have almost no freetime at the moment.... Sorry guys....

Hey it was good enough for me, I printed it. But looking back at it all of the Challenge series have issues.

I have three Challenge Series boxes and none of the scan in very cleanly.

The games may not have been a challenge but getting a clean box image sure is.
